My Fiance Kissed His First Love After She Pushed Me Down the Stairs Chapter 07

Gautier came looking for me.

I had no idea how he’d gotten my address, but somehow he had. He booked the first flight he could find and showed up at my parents’ house before dawn.

He stood on the front porch carrying armfuls of expensive gifts, looking every bit the polished billionaire heir.

“Mrs. Harrington,” he said politely, “I’m Chloe’s fiancé, Gautier Sauveterre. Our wedding is approaching, and I wanted to personally visit and pay my respects.”

At least he was smart enough not to mention the real reason he’d come.

Unfortunately for him, my mother wasn’t someone who could be fooled.

She took one look at him and immediately saw through his act.

With a cold laugh, she grabbed the gifts and tossed them straight off the porch.

“Mr. Sauveterre, you’re far too generous. Unfortunately, the Harrington family isn’t worthy of someone as important as you.” Her smile sharpened. “Why don’t you go spend your time with that precious first love of yours instead?”

The jab at Vivian made Gautier’s expression darken.

Instinctively, he defended her.

“Vivian and I don’t have that kind of relationship. You can’t just slander an innocent girl.”

“Slander?” Mom laughed.

She clearly had no interest in arguing with him.

Turning to the housekeeper, she said, “Show him out.”

The front door slammed shut in his face.

Unfortunately, Gautier was every bit as stubborn as he was wealthy.

Instead of leaving, he planted himself outside our house and refused to move until he saw me.

He stayed there from sunrise until sunset before finally being forced away.

The next day, he came back.

And the day after that.

Sometimes he brought flowers.

Sometimes he brought desserts he knew I liked.

No matter what anyone said, he never gave up.

It was as if he’d suddenly become determined to win me back.

A few weeks later, news of his behavior reached France.

Vivian couldn’t tolerate being ignored.

So she came too.

Soon, the two of them were taking turns camping outside my parents’ house.

One day they argued.

The next day they cried.

Then they started causing scenes.

The entire neighborhood suffered because of it.

Eventually, I couldn’t stand watching my family deal with the chaos anymore.

So I agreed to meet Gautier at a coffee shop down the street.

The moment we sat down, I got straight to the point.

“Gautier, we’re over.”

I met his gaze calmly.

“You chose Vivian. Whatever reasons you want to give now don’t change that. Why are you still chasing me?”

I shook my head.

“We were never deeply in love. I’m not worth this kind of obsession.”

A frown appeared between his brows.

“I didn’t choose Vivian.”

His voice was firm.

“I already explained what happened. She was emotionally unstable that day. I was only trying to calm her down.”

He leaned forward.

“The only woman I’ve ever wanted to marry is you.”

Before I could respond, someone else beat me to it.

Vivian.

She had been listening nearby.

With a furious scream, she slammed her coffee cup onto the table.

The ceramic shattered.

“What exactly is that supposed to mean?”

Her eyes burned with rage as she glared at Gautier.

“If you didn’t love me, why did you confess your feelings to me? Why did you keep all the gifts I gave you? Why did you spend so much money planning our wedding?”

Her voice grew hysterical.

“You love me! You’re just being manipulated by this bitch!”

Then she suddenly grabbed a jagged shard of broken porcelain from the table.

Before anyone could react, she lunged at me.

“I’m going to ruin that pretty face today and see how you seduce men afterward!”

Everything happened too fast.

Gautier reached out instinctively.

But he was too late.

I tried to dodge.

Before I could move, a pair of strong arms wrapped around me and pulled me safely against a broad chest.

The familiar scent hit me first.

Then came the voice.

Cold.

Dangerous.

And terrifyingly familiar.

“That’s a lot of courage for someone causing trouble in my establishment.”

His hand clamped around Vivian’s wrist.

I looked up.

And found myself staring into a pair of eyes I hadn’t seen in ten years.

Ethan Caldwell.

A decade had changed him.

He looked older now.

Sharper.

More controlled.

More dangerous.

For a brief moment, I was struck by how much he’d matured.

Then he picked up a steak knife from a nearby table and pressed the blade against Vivian’s cheek.

Just like that, the reckless troublemaker I remembered was back.

His eyes turned icy.

“You were acting pretty tough a second ago.”

The knife traced lightly across her skin, leaving behind a thin red mark.

“So what happened?”

His smile was terrifying.

“Bullying other people is fun, isn’t it? Funny how it’s not so entertaining when you’re the one on the receiving end.”

Vivian’s face drained of color.

Her entire body trembled.

Gautier finally snapped.

He stepped forward and positioned himself in front of her.

“Let her go!”

Ethan looked utterly unimpressed.

“And who exactly are you to raise your voice in my coffee shop?”

With a shove, he sent Vivian stumbling backward.

Then he casually wiped his hands as though he’d touched something dirty.

His gaze swept over Gautier.

“So you’re Chloe’s ex.”

A smirk appeared.

“I’ve gotta say, I expected better.”

Then he extended a hand.

“Oh, right. Let me introduce myself.”

His grin widened.

“Ethan Caldwell. Owner of this coffee shop.”

He slipped an arm around my shoulders.

“And Chloe’s first love.”

Gautier wasn’t the only person with a first love.

I had one too.

The difference was that while Vivian played innocent and acted crazy whenever it suited her…

My first love had been a walking disaster since childhood.

A fearless menace who never cared about consequences.
