My Cutesy Sister Stole My Husband, So I Exposed Her Darkest Secret Chapter 03

My words stopped Martha dead in her tracks.

She turned around, staring at me like I had no shame at all, utterly incredulous.

“Doing what? Sneaking into an OB-GYN clinic in secret—what else could you be up to?”

“Either an STD check or another abortion!”

“I’m embarrassed for you just saying it out loud.”

“The Hales are one of New York’s wealthy families, and you’ve ruined our reputation completely today.”

“You’ll pay every penny back—all three million in betrothal gifts, the house and jewelry we bought you, and every cent of today’s wedding banquet!”

I ignored her and fixed my eyes on Jasper. “Aren’t you curious either?”

Jasper’s face burned bright red with fury, looking at me as if I were the most shameless woman alive.

He clenched his fists, jaw tight, seething too angry to speak.

Martha instantly stepped in front of him, jabbing a finger at me.

“You shameless hussy! Even now you’re trying to manipulate my son’s soft heart!”

“Even if he believed you, I never will. Don’t you dare try to sway him again!”

Tess stepped forward tearfully.

“I don’t want Elaine and Jasper to fight.”

“But I can’t keep lying for Elaine either.”

“It’s all my stupid curiosity. I wish I’d never followed Elaine that day.”

She reached out to take my hand, putting on an act of begging for my forgiveness.

The second Jasper saw this, his expression softened instantly. “Elaine, how could you? You’re sisters, yet she’s kind and innocent while you’re cheap and promiscuous. I really was blind to ever love you.”

Every cutting word stripped away the last shred of hope in my heart.

So this was what I was to the man I’d loved for eight years.

We’d gone from high school sweethearts to the altar. I’d truly thought we’d be happy forever.

But everything changed the second Tess was brought back to our family.

My parents, who once doted on me more than anything, started telling me I had to give in to my little sister, saying she’d suffered enough all those years she was lost.

Jasper, who once only had eyes for me, began looking at Tess more and more often, even saying things like, “Your sister’s so much more innocent than you.”

It was true. I’d built my own company, negotiated endless business deals, and single-handedly lifted the Brooks family into New York’s high society circle.

I’d seen too much scheming, manipulation, and greed.

I’d lost my naivety. I weighed pros and cons, calculated every move, cared about gains and losses.

Next to the so-called curious, sweet and innocent Tess, I’d never stand a chance at being liked.

I swallowed back my explanation, pulled out our newly issued marriage documents, and tore it straight in front of Jasper’s face. “If that’s how you feel, this wedding is off for good.”

The paper ripped clean down the middle.

Jasper’s face twisted into a complex mix of shock and conflict.

I slipped off my wedding ring and tossed it straight into his chest. “Jasper Hale, from this day on, we’re done for good.”

Jasper clutched the ring in silence, saying nothing.

Martha let out a cold scoff.

“Anyone would think you’re some virtuous saint!”

“Get it straight—you’re the one who’s disgraced my son. If anyone’s calling off this marriage, it’s him dumping you!”

“A woman with eight abortions on her record—once my son leaves you, who else would ever want you?”

Before I could reply, my parents hurried over at once. “Mrs. Hale, what about our younger daughter instead?”
