My Cold Infertile CEO Regretted Everything After Ten Miscarriages Chapter 04

“Seraphina, what are you doing here? You shouldn’t be at Westbrook Medical Center in your condition.”

“I heard Elara miscarried again. I had to check on her. Elias, don’t be too hard on her. She’s been through a lot.”

“She’s just careless.”

Elias’s voice was flat.”She lost the baby because of her own mistake. No one else’s fault.”

My body went cold.

The people holding me muttered quietly,”Mr. Voss only ever cares about her. This one’s just a placeholder.”

Another added,”Thought she’d climb high with a baby. Can’t even keep one.”

Tears rolled down my cheeks, into my hair.

I lay pinned to the sofa, pants pulled down to my knees, like an animal being inspected.

In that moment, I stopped fighting.

“Don’t check me,” I said, my voice raw.

Elowen froze.

I pushed myself up, pulled up my pants, and wiped my tears. I stared straight at Elowen.

“The doctor said I’ve had too many miscarriages. I can’t have children anymore.”

Elowen’s brow lifted.

“I want a divorce.””Find Elias someone else.”

Elowen’s eyes lit up—bright, greedy, unmasked.

Finally. She’d gotten what she wanted.

“You’re sure about this?”

She sounded eager.

“Yes. But I need a plane ticket Elias can’t trace.”

She scoffed.”Afraid he’ll chase you? Ridiculous.”

She hurried her staff, like I might change my mind.”Have the lawyer draw up the papers today. Get it done. Book her a ticket.”

At the door, she paused and looked back.”You just never had luck. A baby would’ve made you part of this family. Now don’t go telling people you were married into the Voss family. It’s embarrassing.”

I smiled and said nothing.

They had no idea.

The Voss family would never have children again.

That Fertility Charm cost me everything.

Before I married Elias, I spent three years giving up everything to get the last one from Marnie.

Marnie said it would let me conceive, no matter how infertile the man was.

Three years. Ten pregnancies. Ten abortions.

The charm’s power burned out today, gone with that bowl of poison.

The Voss infertility gene would never be fixed.
