My CEO’s Wife Canceled My Flight Then Lost Everything Chapter 06

The conference room became deathly quiet.

The evidence had already knocked Vanessa off balance.

Sabrina’s message shattered whatever control she had left.

She threw herself at Grant and grabbed his collar.

“Who the hell is Sabrina Cole?”

“Whose baby is it?”

“Answer me!”

Grant’s face turned gray with anger.

He grabbed her wrist.

“Is this really the time for this?”

Vanessa laughed.

Tears streamed down her face.

“I spent the whole day watching Claire, and the woman actually sleeping with you is waiting at the hospital?”

“Grant, you’re disgusting.”

He lowered his voice.

“Are you done?”

“No!”

Vanessa snapped.

“I watched every young woman around you. I ran Administration for you. I kept assistants from getting too close.”

“And the entire time, you let me play the villain while you kept a pregnant mistress on the side?”

Grant glanced toward the board members.

For the first time, I saw panic on his face.

He grabbed Vanessa and pulled her toward the door.

“We’re discussing this outside.”

I followed.

Ethan came after me immediately.

“You okay?”

I nodded.

The stairwell door hadn’t closed all the way.

Their argument was already echoing from inside.

Vanessa was screaming.

“You’re really going to make me take the fall now, Grant?”

“Bluewater is gone, so you blame me. Sabrina’s pregnant, so somehow that’s my fault too.”

“And the thirty-million-dollar consulting fee on Riverton Phase I? Who told me to route that money?”

Grant’s voice dropped.

“Shut up.”

“No.”

Vanessa sounded almost triumphant now.

She had finally found something that frightened him more than she did.

“Who gave me the selection committee roster?”

“Who told me to organize those private dinners?”

“Who told me to send gift cards to the committee members’ wives?”

“You had me split seven transfers through my personal account, and now you’re pretending you knew

nothing about it?”

I stood around the corner.

My phone camera was aimed through the opening in the door.

My palms were slick with sweat.

Last time, I had overheard pieces of this conversation too.

But I’d been under attack from the entire company.

My mind had been so numb that I hadn’t understood what routing money through private accounts really

meant.

This time, I heard every word.

Grant’s voice came through clenched teeth.

“You were the one who handled the money. If investigators start digging, you think you’re walking away?”

Vanessa gave a bitter laugh.

“Maybe I won’t. But neither will you.”

“Don’t forget what happened when I was your assistant. Don’t forget how you lied to Rachel, took me on

business trips, and had me working with you in hotel rooms late at night.”

“And now you want to act like women who work for you are beneath you?”

“Grant, who taught Erin Reed how to become Vanessa Whitmore?”

Erin Reed.

The second that name left her mouth, Grant panicked.

He shoved the stairwell door open.

The moment he saw me, his expression turned murderous.

“Give me the phone.”

He lunged forward.

Ethan stepped between us.

“Don’t touch her.”

Grant laughed without humor.

“So she’s got both of you wrapped around her finger now?”

Ethan looked pale.

But he didn’t move.

“I’m just tired of watching you hurt people.”

Footsteps approached quickly.

Richard arrived with Legal and Security.

I handed him the video I’d just recorded.

“Richard, this sounds like evidence of bribery on Riverton Phase I.”

He watched less than thirty seconds.

His expression changed.

Then he began issuing orders.

“Secure Grant Whitmore’s office and all financial records.”

“Place Grant on immediate administrative leave.”

“Revoke Vanessa Whitmore’s badge access and all corporate authority, effective immediately.”

“Notify regulators and law enforcement. The board will cooperate fully.”

Grant finally lost his composure.

“Richard, that was a fight between husband and wife. People say things when they’re angry. You can’t treat it

as evidence.”

Richard looked at him coldly.

“A billion-dollar deal was destroyed. Was that just anger too?”

“Thirty million dollars routed through private accounts. Was that just a marital spat too?”

Half an hour later, regulators entered Horizon Digital Solutions.

The lead investigator opened a notebook.

His first question was simple.

“Regarding the Riverton Phase I Project, which one of you would like to speak first, Grant Whitmore or Erin

Reed?”
