My Brother Stole My Crown, My Fiancé Stole My Heart Chapter 04

My Brother Stole My Crown, My Fiancé Stole My Heart Chapter 04

By the time we reached the pack house, the place was already in chaos.

Servants rushed past us, pale-faced, saying Sadie had spiraled again and slit her wrists.

Ryker and Logan’s expressions changed. Before I could get out on my own, they yanked me from the car, furious, as if I had been the one holding the blade.

“This is on you, Wren,” Ryker snapped. “If you hadn’t pushed her, Sadie never would’ve done this.”

The pack doctor said Sadie couldn’t handle any more stress. Between the shock and her severe anemia, she had passed out.

She needed a lot of blood.

Ryker had the same rare blood type.

But he shoved me forward without a second of hesitation.

“Use Wren,” he ordered the pack doctor. “She has the same rare blood type. Give her blood to Sadie.”

“Consider it her apology.”

“Save Sadie. No matter what.”

Once, Ryker couldn’t bear to see me shed a single tear. Because I had been weak since childhood, he had even arranged backup blood donors just for me.

Now he didn’t care whether I lived or died.

Logan forced me down beside Sadie’s bed, his hand crushing my shoulder.

Sadie slowly opened her eyes and looked at me, frail and helpless.

“Wren, I didn’t mean to take Ryker and Logan from you,” she whispered. “They’re the ones who wanted to protect me.”

“What else do you want from me? Do I have to die before you’ll forgive me?”

She looked pitiful, but every word was a blade aimed straight at my heart.

Logan’s face tightened with pain. He leaned down and kissed her forehead, telling her she was safe.

Ryker summoned the best pack doctors in the territory.

The two of them stayed at Sadie’s side, hovering over her like she was the only person in the room.

“Sadie, Wren shouldn’t have upset you,” Ryker said softly. “She knows she was wrong.”

Logan brushed the hair from her face.

“Sadie, listen to me. You’re safe. Wren won’t hurt you again.”

Sadie looked at me through tear-filled eyes, as if she couldn’t believe it.

“Wren, you really don’t hate me?” she asked. “The truth is, back then, I never committed any crime. I was just scared you’d take Ryker and Logan from me, so I talked them into sending you to the Trial Cavern for correction.”

“I just didn’t want to lose them.”

My heart, already torn to shreds, twisted again.

So it had all been a lie.

And the people closest to me had known the truth.

They had still sent me in.

What were the three years I lost supposed to be? What was all the pain I suffered supposed to mean?

When Ryker saw me trembling, his eyes sharpened with suspicion. He shoved me back coldly.

“If you hadn’t been so spoiled and vicious, Sadie wouldn’t have been afraid you’d hurt her.”

Logan frowned.

“Besides, you’re fine now, aren’t you? It’s over. Why drag it up again just to make Sadie feel worse?”

It’s over.

Just like that, they wanted to erase everything I had endured.

How ridiculous.

“Ryker. Logan,” I said, my voice shaking. “Every bit of suffering I went through came from you.”

“I wish I’d never known either of you.”

I used every ounce of strength I had left and bolted for the door, desperate to escape this cage that devoured people whole.

Sadie began begging me not to leave.

One sentence from her was enough.

Ryker and Logan blocked me again. They lifted me with barely any effort and tied me to a chair.

“This has nothing to do with Sadie,” Ryker said. “You never cared about her feelings. You made her feel unsafe.”

Logan held me down, his face cold and remote.

“Wren, nothing happened to you anyway. Why are you so determined to keep score? Once Sadie recovers, we’ll make it up to you.”

Then he personally pushed a sedative into my arm.

Ryker called the pack doctor over. Then he took Sadie’s hand and softened his voice.

“You’re weak right now, but once Wren gives you her blood, you’ll be okay.”

I lay limp in the chair, too weak to fight anymore.

The second my sleeve was pushed up, Ryker went still.

My arm was covered in jagged scars, old and new, brutal enough to silence the room.

But his shock lasted only a second before his face hardened.

“You think a few scars will fool me? This is just another pathetic act.”

“I personally gave orders inside. No one would’ve dared touch you.”

A bitter smile pulled at my mouth.

Orders?

Yes.

Someone had made sure I was “taken care of” every single day.

Sometimes it was electric shocks.

Sometimes it was other kinds of torture.

Every time I lost hope and slit my wrists, they saved me just so it could happen all over again.

Ryker ordered the pack doctor to save Sadie at any cost.

“Wren, you sponsored Sadie once, but then you hurt her this badly. Giving a little blood now is the least you can do to make up for it.”

Logan looked down at me like a judge handing down mercy.

“When Sadie gets better, we’ll let this go. After that, we can start over.”

Sadie lay on the bed, and a small smile curved at the corner of her mouth.

“Wren,” she said gently, “thank you for understanding me. Once I’m better, I’ll definitely make it up to you.”

When Ryker and Logan finally left, Sadie watched my face grow weaker and weaker.

The sweetness vanished from her eyes.

“Wren, you can’t beat me,” she said coldly. “Don’t even dream of taking them back. I’m the only one they care about.”

“So what if you were born noble? You’re still under my foot, begging just to survive.”

The venom in her eyes sent a chill through my whole body.

I thought sponsoring her would give her warmth.

Instead, I had fed a snake.
