My Brain Fades, His Hate Never Ends Chapter 08

My Brain Fades, His Hate Never Ends Chapter 08

“What?”

Scarlett shrieked like she’d heard something insane.

“Divorce? Elias, are you crazy?”

“I’m not crazy.”

Elias’s voice was calm, but unshakable.

“These five years haven’t been easy for you.”

“You’re free starting today.”

“I’ll have my lawyer handle everything. You’ll get a fair settlement.”

Tears flooded Scarlett’s eyes-but not from sadness. From rage.

“I won’t divorce you!”

“I’ll never divorce you!”

“Elias, you owe me! I saved your life!”

“You promised my dad you’d take care of me forever!”

“Now you’re throwing me aside for this girl who almost killed you?”

“Do you have no shame? After everything I’ve done?”

She screamed like a woman betrayed by the whole world.

Elias closed his eyes, exhausted.

“Scarlett, we both know the truth.”

“You didn’t save me.”

“You just showed up first in my room after I was revived.”

“I’ve repaid your father’s favor a hundred times over.”

“We’re even.”

Scarlett broke down completely.

She never thought he’d say it out loud.

Her biggest lie had just crumbled.

“No… that’s not true…”

She rambled, shaking her head.

“You’re remembering wrong! You’re sick!”

“It’s her! She put a spell on you!”

She lunged at me like a wild thing.

“I’ll kill you, you little homewrecker!”

Jude grabbed her before she could reach me.

“Calm down!”

“I can’t calm down!”

Scarlett thrashed in his arms.

“She ruined everything! I want her dead!”

The room erupted in chaos.

I backed into the corner, scared and confused.

Elias watched the mess without a flicker of emotion.

His eyes stayed only on me.

“Elara. Come here.”

I hesitated, then walked to his bed.

He took my hand. His fingers were cold, but they grounded me.

“Don’t be afraid.”

He looked at me, soft as water.

“No one will hurt you again.”

He nodded to his assistant.

“Get her out of here.”

“I’m not leaving!”

Scarlett screamed, clinging to the doorframe.

“Elias, you can’t do this to me! I’m pregnant with your child!”

Everyone went still.

Even Elias.

He stared at her in disbelief, pure absurdity in his eyes.

“What?”

“A child?”

“When… when would we have-”

He even wondered if his own memory was broken.

He’d never touched Scarlett, not once in five years of marriage.

How could she be pregnant?

Scarlett saw him waver and pushed harder.

“Last month! In your office!”

“You got drunk! Don’t you remember?!”

“We-”

She put on a shy, hurt face, acting perfectly.

Elias’s jaw tightened.

He had gotten drunk at a company celebration last month.

He couldn’t remember much after.

Could it be true?

Jude watched, unimpressed, then snorted.

“Miss Hale, the Oscars owe you a trophy.”

“If you say it’s his, where’s your proof?”

Scarlett ripped a paper from her purse.

“Look! Six weeks pregnant!”

“The timeline lines up perfectly!”

Jude took it, glanced at it, and handed it back.

“Congratulations, Miss Hale.”

“But you might want to figure out who the real father is before you cause a scene.”

“Otherwise, it’ll be pretty awkward when the baby doesn’t look anything like him.”

Scarlett’s face went pale, then red, then pale again.

“What are you saying?!”

“Nothing.”

Jude shrugged.

“I just happen to know you spent all night in a hotel last month with your personal trainer.”

“Some people might think you weren’t talking about workouts.”

Scarlett went rigid.

It was like someone had grabbed her throat. She couldn’t speak.

Elias’s eyes turned ice-cold.

He looked at her, slow and sharp.

“Is it true?”

Scarlett’s lips trembled. She wouldn’t meet his eyes.

“I… I didn’t-”

“Enough.”

Elias cut through her weak lies.

He looked at the woman he’d tolerated for five years and felt nothing but disgust.

“Get out of my sight.”

“Now. Immediately.”

His voice was low, but unbeatable.

Scarlett knew it was over.

She shot me one last hateful glare, then ran out, broken.

The room went quiet at last.

Elias looked at me, full of regret.

“I’m sorry, Elara.”

“You shouldn’t have seen that.”

I shook my head.

I didn’t really understand what had happened.

I just felt better now that she was gone.

I pointed at the tubes on his body and whispered.

“Are you hurting?”

Elias blinked, then smiled.

It was pale and weak, but completely real.

“Yeah.”

“I’m hurting.”

“Every day without you hurts.”
