My Boyfriend Hated My Best Friend Until I Came Home Chapter 08

The day the entire ugly flasco unfolded was a weekend.

I was reading at home when the doorbell rang so loudly it practically shook the walls.

I pulled the door open to find Lilia standing outside, tear tracks down her face, eyes puffy and red, hair a disheveled mess.

Finnick came rushing after her.

‘Get back here right now!”

Finnick reached for her hand, but she yanked it away harshly,

I’m not going back! I need to see Seraphina! I’m going to tell her what kind of scum you really are!”

“Are you insane? What are you doing making a scene here?”

“I’m insane? Finnick, you went behind my back to reach out to Seraphina, do you think I didn’t know? How many messages did you send her? You called me dramatic, you said I was annoying, I heard every word!”

The two of them started arguing right on my doorstep, their voices rising louder and louder, as neighbors poked their heads out their doors to see what was going on.

I leaned against the doorframe, watching them coldly.

Finnick’s face turned even darker, “Seraphina, don’t listen to her nonsense, she’s completely lost it…”

Lilia let out a shriek and lunged at him, hitting and punching his chest.

‘I’m the one who’s lost it? Finnick, you’re such a monster! What did you say when you were chasing me? You said you loved me, that you’d never met a woman who made your heart race the way I did. What about now? Now I’m just

annoying to you?”

Finnick shoved her to the ground, his eyes ice–cold.

Look at yourself right now! You’re acting like a raving lunatic! How did I ever feel bad for you? You deserved to get

dumped by your ex–husband!”

Lilia froze where she sat on the ground, then burst into loud, heaving sobs.

I watched the whole scene unfold quietly, and suddenly felt a sharp, bitter amusement.

These were the two people who had once made me wish I was dead.

These were the two people I’d once thought were the most important in my life.

They were tearing into each other, hurling insults, pointing fingers, making absolute fools of themselves right in front of

ne, like two fish flopping around uselessly in a mud puddle.

Are you two done yelling?”

Both of them tell silent at the same time, turning to look at me in unison.

If you’re done, leave. Don’t disturb the neighbors here.”

Finnick Lilia, one of you betrayed your partner, the other betrayed your friend. You brought this on you have no one to blame but yourselves.”

I will never forgive either of you, and I will never go back to how things were. From now on, whether yo or badly has nothing to do with me.”

With that. I shut the door, blocking out their wails and shouts.

My phone buzzed again. A friend was asking me out for dinner, saying they wanted to introduce me to:

The unspoken implication in their message was obvious.

I held the phone to my chest for a long moment, then typed back:

(Okay. I’ll be there on time.]

People can’t live in the past forever. It was time for me to start my new life too.
