My Boyfriend Gave My House to His Three Childhood Friends Chapter 06

That night, Sophia went live.

She didn’t name me directly, only saying she’d recently been dealing with a “friend who was incredibly controlling.”

“Just because I’m close with a few old friends, she thinks we’re taking advantage of her. She’s so jealous she’s even trying to throw out the people I’m trying to build a business with.”

The comments quickly flooded in to defend her.

[Didn’t you all renovate the house together?]

[Is she jealous because you and that designer grew up together?]

[She’s let you all stay there this long, and now she’s suddenly kicking you out? That’s unbelievably petty.]

Sophia sighed into the camera.

“Some people think that just because they own the place, they get to control everyone in it.”

In the background, Ethan brought her a cup of coffee.

He never properly stepped into frame, but it was enough for her followers to recognise the house as the one Ethan had presented in his competition entry as a home for the four of them.

Before long, people had dug up my name and where I worked.

My social media accounts were flooded with abuse.

Some accused me of flaunting the money I’d inherited from my father.

Others said I had no respect for all the work Ethan had put into designing the house.

A few even asked why, since I had no family left, I couldn’t let people who genuinely needed the space keep using it.

I didn’t respond to a single one.

The next day, I had my lawyer send out four formal notices.

The first required Sophia to change her company’s registered address within the stated timeframe and stop using my house for commercial filming without my permission.

The second held her responsible for damaging the model train set my father had left me and using it as a livestream giveaway without authorisation.

The third required Ethan to repay the duplicate charges, the amounts he’d charged me for sponsored items, and the supplier commissions he’d failed to disclose.

The fourth went to the design award committee.

I attached the property records, the original design plans, the payment records, and evidence showing that Ethan had falsely listed himself and his three friends as the clients and entered my home into the competition without my permission.

My lawyer asked, “Do you want to respond publicly to what’s being said online?”

I shook my head.

“No. The evidence only needs to go to the people who matter.”

Three days later, Sophia’s livestreaming account was suspended.

Her brand partners couldn’t secure valid authorisation to use the property, so they suspended their planned promotions as well.

Soon after, the design award committee released an announcement.

[The entry “The Co-Living Home” has had its shortlisted status revoked for misrepresenting the project’s background and failing to obtain authorisation from the property owner.]

Ethan’s name was displayed prominently in the notice.

The story he’d invented to help himself win had now become the clearest proof of his own rule-breaking.

That same day, Sophia stormed over to the lobby of my office building.

“Erin, did you really have to take it this far? Do you have any idea how much I’m losing every day I can’t go live?”

I looked at her.

“I do. My lawyer will also work out exactly what you owe me.”

Her face froze.

“We’ve known each other five years. You’re seriously not going to cut me any slack?”

“You took over my study for three months. You tried to give away the model my dad left me. And when I was locked out of my own home, did any of you stop to think how I felt?”

She opened her mouth, but not a word came out.
