Everything I Never Said

I laugh. It comes out bitter and wet.

I take one step toward him, eyes locked on his.

“Why? You want to know why?”

“You knew I was carrying your pup. You still rejected me. For Vivian. For a *game*”

“Three years, Logan. Three years. Not one call. Not one message. Like I was dead to you.”

“You were convinced I was your loyal little shadow. That no matter what you did, I’d crawl back.”

“In your head, I was some she–wolf with no pride. Less than a pack slave.”

“That’s why you could parade around with Vivian like I didn’t exist. Like my feelings didn’t matter.”

“Well guess what, Logan Blackthorn. I *have* pride. My love has a breaking point.”

“For a mate like you – unfaithful, selfish, cruel – rejection wasn’t a punishment. It was freedom.”

“What in the Moon Goddess’s name made you think I’d wait for you?”

His eyes fill up. He doesn’t move.

My voice shakes a little. These words have been pressed against my ribs for three years. Saying them finally – it’s like pulling glass out of my lungs.

I pull a small recording device out of my bag and hand it to the Council enforcers. I’d worn it pinned

inside my shirt when I went to the Blackthorn pack house. It caught everything – me warning them Asher was allergic to cat fur. Them ignoring me. The cat clawing him. Logan physically blocking me from pulling my pup out.

I look the enforcer dead in the eye.

“The evidence is all there. They deliberately caused serious harm to my pup.”

“I want them tried to the full extent of Council law.”

Kael adds, voice like ice: “Logan Blackthorn and Vivian walked into a pup nursery and forcibly removed the Nightridge Pack heir. That’s a kidnapping under Council code. A capital–level offense.”

The enforcer reviews the evidence. Then turns to Logan and Vivian.

“Your actions violate Council law. We’re detaining both of you immediately pending tribunal.”

Before she can finish, a cold, controlled voice cuts in from the corridor.

“Isn’t this conclusion a little premature, officer?”

Helena Blackthorn.

Logan’s mother walks in like she owns the place, chin up, not a single hair out of place. Her son is about to be dragged into a dungeon, and she doesn’t blink.

She’s brought the most expensive Council advocate in three territories.

I fix her with a sharp stare.

“Oh? Is Lady Blackthorn challenging Council law now?”

She looks at me like I’m something she scraped off her paw.

“It’s about money, isn’t it, Clara? Name your price.”

I almost laugh.

She keeps going, that same smug tone she’d used on me for three years as former Luna of the Blackthorn Pack.

“You leave Logan and you pick up another male. Now you can’t afford to raise the pup, so you cook up this little scheme.”

“Say a number. I’ll toss it at you like a bone to a stray.”

“Losing a little coin is nothing to the Blackthorns.”

Kael steps in front of her. Cold–eyed.

“Lady Blackthorn. You really think *I* can’t afford to raise my pup?”

“Now I see where Logan gets it. A rabid mutt raised by another rabid mutt.”

Then he stops holding back.

His Alpha aura floods the room – raw, unrestrained, crushing. A pressure so heavy every werewolf in the hallway drops their gaze on pure instinct. Necks bared. Shoulders caving. Even the Council enforcers lower their eyes.

Logan’s knees give out. He catches himself against the wall.

Helena staggers. Her head bows before she can stop it. Her wolf is flat on her belly inside her, whimpering.

She barely forces the words out, voice shaking.

“W–who–who *are* you?”

Kael doesn’t even raise his voice.

“Kael Nightridge.”

Helena’s eyes bulge out of her skull.

“N–Nightridge? You’re Alpha of the *Nightridge Pack*?”
