My Alpha Mate Stole Our Daughter’s Heart for His Mistress’s Son Chapter 04

The next day was my daughter’s seventh birthday.

After dropping her off at school, a thick, suffocating sense of dread coiled tightly in my gut. My skin crawled with the absolute certainty that something catastrophic was about to happen.

Sure enough, my phone rang around noon. It was her teacher, her voice trembling. Mia was gone. She had vanished from the school grounds.

In an instant, the vital fluid turned to ice in my veins. The nightmare had become real.

The world tilted on its axis. Blinded by panic, I raced back to our cottage, screaming my daughter’s name until my throat ached.

The house was empty, save for our pack nanny. She looked up, startled by my frantic state. “Luna, Alpha Andrew came by and picked her up a couple of hours ago. He said he was taking her to the amusement park as a surprise birthday present.”

I didn’t trust a single breath that came out of Andrew’s mouth anymore, but I had never, in my worst nightmares, imagined he would actively harm our own daughter.

A sickening realization began to claw its way up from the depths of my mind.

Hands shaking violently, I unlocked my phone to dial 911—but before my finger could touch the screen, a brutal kick sent the device flying across the room, smashing it against the brick fireplace.

I snapped my head up. Julia Mitchell stood in the doorway, a twisted, mocking smirk plastered across her face. Behind her loomed a dozen heavily armed pack warriors.

Before I could leap to my feet, Julia lunged forward and kicked me squarely in the torso, sending me crashing flat onto my back.

She dropped to her knees, slamming her fingers into my jaw, squeezing until the bones creaked under the pressure.

“Calling the cops? Oh, we can’t have that,” she purred, her eyes dancing with sadistic glee. “Come on, Claire. Let’s go have a nice cup of tea.”

With a flick of her manicured wrist, the pack warriors swarmed me, pinning my limbs to the floorboards with crushing force.

Julia stood up, raising her heavy heel and grinding it ruthlessly into the side of my face, forcing my cheek against the cold hardwood.

“That little wretch Mia turns seven today, doesn’t she? My son is running out of time. He’s waiting for her ‘Moon-Organ.'”

“What’s the matter, Claire? Do you want my son to die?”

Her words felt like a scorpion’s stinger ripping through my brain.

My organ literally stopped beating for a terrifying second. Raging, primal motherly instinct exploded through my veins; veins bulged on my neck as I thrashed violently against the floorboards, trying to tear myself free.

But the sheer weight of several elite werewolves held me down like iron weights. I couldn’t move an inch.

“If you behave yourself, I’ll take you somewhere nice to wait,” Julia laughed, the sound like spikes piercing my eardrums. “Once the extraction is over, we’ll give your daughter right back to you.”

In that horrific second, the missing pieces of the conversation I had broken off days ago slammed into my mind. A wave of agonizing, suffocating regret paralyzed my soul.

I had been so stupid. I had thought Andrew just didn’t love me anymore.

I hated myself—I loathed my own blindness for not taking my lovely girl and fleeing the country the very second I heard them in that office.

Before I could scream, a heavy, blunt blow struck the back of my skull. The room shattered into darkness, and I lost consciousness.

Meanwhile, outside Moonlight Elementary.

“Papa’s taking Mia to the amusement park! Mia loves Papa so, so much!”

Mia was practically bursting out of her skin, jumping up and down on the pavement and clapping her tiny hands with pure, unadulterated joy.

“Yeah. Get in the car. The driver is going to take you ahead first.”

Andrew stood by the open door of the black SUV. His face was a carved block of stone, his voice utterly devoid of warmth.

Mia blinked up at him, her smile faltering slightly. “Isn’t Papa coming with Mia?”

Andrew looked down at the soft, dough-faced little girl he had watched grow since infancy. He swallowed hard, forcing his organ to harden as he repeated the lies he had been telling himself:

Dylan is dying. Dylan needs me. Julia saved my life so many times—she even sacrificed half of her own Moon-Organ for me. And Mia… I already signed the extraction waiver for her days ago. It’s just a routine procedure. It’s an accident. She won’t feel much pain.

“Papa left something important in the office, sweetie. You go ahead, and I’ll catch up with you in a minute,” Andrew lied, his jaw tight. He reminded himself that she wasn’t even his biological child—there was no reason to hesitate.

But without warning, a violent, agonizing spasm ripped through his torso. Andrew panted, clutching his organ as a sharp, piercing pain forced him to bend over, double-jointed in sudden agony.

Mia’s eyes went wide with worry. She immediately stepped closer, her tiny hands reaching out to touch his arm. “Papa? Is your organ hurting?”

“If it hurts, Mia can give Papa her Moon-Organ, just like Mama did! Then Papa won’t be in pain anymore, right?”

Looking into the girl’s completely innocent, wide eyes, a sudden wave of sheer, unadulterated panic crashed over Andrew.

He violently grabbed Mia by her small shoulders, his fingers digging in deep as his voice turned dangerously sharp.

“Who told you that?! Who told you about the Moon-Organ?!”

“I… I heard Mama say it,” Mia whimpered, her tiny frame flinching violently under his sudden, terrifying rage. Her voice dropped to a frightened whisper.

“Mama said… she loved Papa so much, that’s why she gave her Moon-Organ to Papa… so Papa wouldn’t hurt anymore…”

Andrew froze. Then, a roaring, toxic fury flooded his torso.

Julia was the one who saved his life all those years ago. Yet Claire had not only maliciously stolen the credit for it, but she was also brainwashing this little brat child to parrot her pathetic lies!

Letting out a harsh, disgusted sneer, Andrew violently hoisted Mia off her feet by her arm and threw her into the backseat of the SUV.

Mia’s head cracked hard against the side window. The pain broke her spirit, and she finally burst into terrified, heavy sobs.

Andrew’s boots hesitated on the pavement for a fraction of a second.

But he didn’t look back. He locked eyes with the driver, giving him a cold, fatal nod. The engine roared to life, and the SUV sped away, carrying my daughter’s terrified cries into the distance.
