Moon-Wish Doll Chapter 09

Moon-Wish Doll Chapter 09

Derek and Dad refused to give up.

They tried over and over.

But plain water was all it was.

Blood was just blood.

The Moon Mirror never appeared again.

They were losing their minds.

Dad frantically pumped fortunes into mooncraft labs and forbidden occult technologies, searching for a way to bring Mom and me back.

Derek dragged Nora along for bloodletting.

“Our blood cannot summon Mom and Claire. But you-you were healed by Claire’s wish. It has to

work for you.”

Nora’s blood dripped into the basin.

It finally dawned on her why Derek had told her to cling to the life Claire had traded for her.

“Derek, it hurts. You used to dote on me most. Why are you doing this? Derek, Derek, I don’t want to bleed anymore. I can’t…”

Derek wasn’t listening.

Seeing no figures surface on the water, he was driven to the brink of madness.

He shoved the blood-depleted Nora to the ground. “Why isn’t this working? You useless trash! Why

can’t you make them show up?”

All she could do was beg.

Dad hadn’t let Mrs. Robinson off either. He’d frozen every Pack account in her name. Penniless, she’d had to take odd jobs.

Her once delicate, well-kept face faded and weathered under wind and sun. She was breaking.

She went to Dad, pleaded with him to stop.

He agreed.

“Fine. I’ve got a new soul-rift chamber ready for its first test. You be the test subject. Walk out

alive, and I’ll leave you alone.”

She agreed.

Dozens of mooncraft crystals were strapped to her skin, tracking her life signs.

She stepped into the cylindrical chamber.

A surge of silver current pierced through her body, making her tremble violently. Fatigue seeped

from deep inside.

The door opened again.

he crashed onto the ground and propped herself up instinctively, only to stare down at her hands

withered like dead tree branches.

Dad walked closer, showing no sympathy.

He sighed. “Looks like the soul-rift chamber failed. Couldn’t open the sanctuary. Just accelerated aging instead.”

Mrs. Robinson screamed in raw fury. “You tricked me! Theodore Caldwell, you’ll die a horrible

death! You hear me?”

Dad didn’t flinch.

He crouched beside her with empty eyes.

“I’ve wanted to die for a long time. But I’m afraid. Afraid I’ll die and still not find them. You owe me this. Now pay up.”

Mrs. Robinson was dragged out and dumped on the street.

She staggered up, tears streaming for the first time.

“I was wrong. I was so wrong. Why did I ever covet the Caldwell Pack’s riches?”

She pulled out her phone, about to contact the Council Wardens to report Theodore.

A mind link came from Nora.

A voice message.

All her daughter’s hatred poured out.

“It’s your fault. You made me ‘healthy’—and now I wish I were dead. This life isn’t worth living. I’m

dying anyway. I’m going to die any second. Mom, don’t ever give birth to me again. Ever.”

Dull water gurgles echoed in the background.

Mrs. Robinson clapped her hand over her mouth, but the sobs still escaped.

“This is my fault. I was wrong. I was so wrong.”

She staggered forward, hearing none of the blaring car horns around her.

A loud impact. Then the silence.

Dad and Derek searched their whole lives for a passage to the sanctuary where Mom and I were.

But until their last breaths, they never saw us again.

Mom took me to mind-healer clinics to treat my condition.

My foggy mind slowly cleared up day by day.

The healer said the damage could be reversed.

I went through treatment, slowly becoming normal again.

During the day, Mom ran a flower shop. After school, I helped hér.

This realm was a tender sanctuary reserved by the Moon Goddess for wish-makers.

No scolding. No hunger. No pain.

Life turned into a bliss I’d never dared to crave.

Peaceful. Secure.
