Minimal for Me, Everything for Her Chapter 07

Minimal for Me, Everything for Her Chapter 07

Sienna came to the first court-ordered mediation.

She wore no jewelry.

She carried only a canvas tote.

The second she saw me, her eyes went red.

“Nora, we’ve been friends for years. Are you really going to leave me with nothing?”

I put the marital asset inventory on the table.

“None of this was yours to begin with.”

“But Adrian gave it to me.”

“Then he can buy it for you again with his separate property.”

Adrian sat across the table.

He never stopped looking at me.

The court-appointed mediator turned to him.

“Mr. Keller, are you willing to proceed with a settlement and divorce?”

“No.”

“And do you acknowledge the transfers listed here?”

He paused.

“Yes. But Nora knew about them.”

I looked up.

Adrian continued.

“She knew Sienna and I were close. She never objected all these years.”

I smiled faintly.

“I learned the amounts yesterday.”

“You saw the Instagram posts.”

“Sienna blocked me.”

The mediator looked at Sienna.

Her face went white.

My attorney submitted printed exhibits.

Sienna’s private posts had been arranged by date and matched one by one to Adrian’s transaction records.

The earliest was posted the day Adrian and I legally married.

The photo showed a diamond bracelet.

The caption read:

He says marriage is just paperwork. I’m still the exception.

Adrian turned sharply toward Sienna.

“Why would you post that?”

She bit her lip.

“I was upset. I was just venting.”

“I never said marriage was just paperwork.”

“But you said you didn’t love her.”

The room went still.

Adrian looked at me.

I didn’t ask when he’d said it.

I didn’t ask how many times.

Those answers didn’t matter anymore.

The mediator asked again.

“Mr. Keller, do you still intend to contest the divorce?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

Adrian’s fingers tightened.

“Because we have feelings for each other.”

Sienna stared at him in disbelief.

I only found it bitterly funny.

For four years, he’d never said he loved me.

Now that the assets were being clawed back and his wife was actually leaving, our feelings had finally

acquired a name.

After mediation, Adrian followed me into the hallway.

“I never said that.”

“Okay.”

“You don’t believe me?”

“I don’t care.”

He grabbed my wrist.

“Nora, you can’t erase four years because of a few things Sienna said to stir you up.”

I pulled free.

“You’re the one who erased those four years.”

“Birthdays had to be simple. Anniversaries had to be simple. Wedding rings had to be simple. Even saying you liked me had to be simple.”

“But nothing you gave her ever had to be.”

Adrian’s lips parted.

“It won’t happen again.”

“I don’t need a future with you anymore..”

I turned away.

He stayed where he was.

That night, Sienna publicly posted screenshots of their messages.

She had selected only the parts that helped her.

Adrian had written:

She doesn’t like gifts.

She prefers things simple.

She’s not the type to make a big deal about this stuff.

Sienna added a caption.

If this makes me the other woman, I have nothing to say.

People in the comments accused me of destroying a years-long friendship over money.

I didn’t respond.

I sent the complete message history to my attorney.
