Married to the Don, My Ex Won’t Stop Begging Chapter 01

Married to the Don, My Ex Won’t Stop Begging Chapter 01

Dante Vincenzo gave the Luciano family twenty years of his life. Willingly.

Because of me.

“Tina, the Don approved. Five years—once I take the Mediterranean territory, I get to marry you.”

I believed him. I waited five years for nothing.

Five years later, Dante stood before my father with one arm missing and held out a marriage contract.

But the bride he wanted? The maid standing next to me.

“Don Luciano, I ask for your blessing. Genevieve saved my life. I want to marry her.”

My father said nothing.

He simply handed me the dagger. The symbol of our family’s power.

Everyone on the streets knew the truth about me, Valentina Luciano held grudges. My particular brand of crazy had a reputation.

I took the dagger from my father’s hand.

My eyes locked onto the way Dante instinctively shifted to shield Genevieve. I almost laughed.

“Dante, are you that scared of me?”

He pressed his lips together.

“This is on me. I wronged you.”

“I’ll take whatever punishment you want. But Genevieve’s innocent.”

I let out a sharp laugh.

My gaze slid past him and landed on the girl shrinking behind his back.

“Innocent? Two years ago, when he lost his arm, I was the one who sent you from the Long Island estate to take care of him.”

“What happened? Did the bedside care come with extra benefits?”

Genevieve dropped her head. Tears dripped down her face without stopping.

She didn’t even have the nerve to meet my eyes. She just tugged weakly at the edge of Dante’s jacket.

Dante turned.

He tightened his grip on her hand and murmured, soft and gentle, “Don’t be scared. I’m right here. I won’t let anything happen to you.”

The same tone he used to use on me.

It landed on my ears like needles. I felt every single one.

I pulled in a slow breath and raised the dagger, pointing the tip straight at his heart.

He didn’t fight back.

He just moved his body to block her even more.

“Dante, I’m giving you three seconds. Last chance to change your mind.”

He didn’t speak.

He shut his eyes.

“Three. Two. One.”

Click.

The blade slid back into its sheath.

I didn’t kill him.

He stared at me like he couldn’t process what just happened.

I tilted my head, letting the mockery creep into my voice. “What, you actually thought I’d do it? You broke my heart, Dante, not the family. No need for blood.”

“You were ready to die for this today. That’s enough for me. You want my blessing? Fine. You’ve got it.”

I let out a soft, humorless laugh.

My eyes pinned Genevieve where she stood, all wide and pitiful. “Genevieve, if you’re going to marry him, then you owe me a toast.”

I was the Don’s daughter. She could damn well pour me that drink.

The hall went dead silent. Not a single breath. Everyone stood there, stunned.

Nobody expected me to let them go that easily. Not after waiting five years for nothing.

Genevieve walked forward on unsteady legs.

She poured a whiskey from the tray beside us. Her voice shook. “Miss Luciano, I’m so sorry.”

I took a sip. Said nothing.

I lifted my hand. The staff stepped forward. I pulled two thick envelopes from the tray, cash stuffed to the brim. Family tradition. A brother getting married meant his sister gave his new bride a gift. A token of acceptance.

One went to Genevieve. The other, I tossed at Dante’s feet.

“The wedding’s on. Go be happy.” I turned and walked out.

The head of house found me right after.

More gifts had arrived from the Santoro family.

Five years. He kept sending. I kept refusing.
