Marked by Loss Chapter 05By Novel7s / May 24, 2026 Marked by Loss Chapter 05The moment I saw his face, my whole body went rigid. I tried to slam the door shut, desperate to keep him out. But he blocked it with his arm and shoved his way inside. His eyes were red, and he grabbed my arms tightly. “This is all a lie!” “Harper isn’t dead. You’ve been hiding her, haven’t you?” He shook me violently, and the portrait of Harper slipped from my hands, crashing to the floor. The glass frame shattered into pieces. A chill ran down my spine. Blind with rage, I slapped him across the face. “That’s enough!” “Harper died three years ago.” “You haven’t even come to see her once, and now you’re acting like a good father?” “Get out! You are not welcome here!” He had nothing left to hold over me. I shoved him out, nearly losing control. I slammed the door and sank to the floor, clutching Harper’s portrait as I cried. On the other side of the door, Landon kept pounding. Landon’s POV “Elena, answer me!” “How could Harper be dead? She was fine before!” “Wasn’t the leukemia just a lie you made up to trick me?” “You’re just trying to play the victim. You want me to feel guilty so I forget what you did to Genevieve, right?” “Say something! Why are you so quiet?” The room fell silent. No one made a sound. I got a bad feeling. When something heavy hit the floor, I flinched, a sense of dread settling deep in my chest. I put all my strength into slamming myself against the door. The cheap apartment door couldn’t hold up. The lock gave way after just a few hits. I flung the door open, fury radiating from every inch of me. Inside, I saw her sprawled on the floor, the wheelchair tipped over, blood streaming from her wrists. Her face was pale, eyes closed. She was still clutching Harper’s photo in her hands. My eyes widened in anger and panic at the same time. I rushed toward her like I’d lost control. “Elena!”
