Marked by Another at Our Wedding Chapter 10

In my memories, Thorne had never seemed as humble in front of me as he did now.

I remained calm: “Thorne, stop struggling. Admitting you’ve changed your heart isn’t something to be ashamed of.”

“I believe you truly loved me before, but the fact is, you’ve fallen out of love.”

He interrupted me urgently: “No, I still love you. Please believe me, Ophelia.”

I smiled, “You say you love me, yet you can’t even remember what I like—every meal you bring me is Liora’s favorite. You say you love me, but the gifts you choose are identical replicas of what she owns. You say you love me, yet my birthday, our anniversaries—all slipped your mind. You say you love me, but when danger struck, you didn’t hesitate. You just ran… straight to someone else.”

“If this is your idea of love, it’s not just cheap – it’s counterfeit.”

He looked at my indifferent expression and suddenly panicked.

“Ophelia, I know I was wrong. When I was waiting for you outside just now, I finally understood what I’ve put you through all these years. I’m sorry.”

“I know I’ve done many things wrong before, and you have every right to be angry. Ophelia, all I ask is for you to give me one more chance. I will change. I will do better.”

His voice cracked with emotion, “I’ll learn to cook for you, help you

with housework, drive you to and from work. No more takeout from
that place she likes. No more missed dates. If you want to travel, I’ll
go anywhere with you. And I won’t leave you just because of a phone
call from someone else.”

I stared at him expressionlessly, saying nothing.

He grew even more anxious, “The whole Liora thing is my fault, but I
promise, I won’t see her anymore. I’ll make her leave the pack, and I’ll
delete every way to contact her.”

I scoffed, “So now you realize what you did wrong. But you still
treated me the same way. Honestly, you just don’t care about me. You
took advantage of how much I loved you, thinking I wouldn’t mind,
and that I wouldn’t leave. That’s why you became bolder and bolder,
hurting me more and more.”

“No, I do care about you. I love you, Ophelia.”

“Sorry, but I don’t feel it. All I feel is your trampling and belittling.
You’re always there for Liora, doing whatever she wants, attending to
her every need—that is love, right?”

His face turned pale. “I’ll admit it—I was completely lost. I mistook pity
for love, and it was all an illusion. But when I realized you were
leaving…” His voice cracked. “That’s when I finally saw the truth. I’ve
loved you all along. Just imagining life without you—it steals the
breath from my lungs.”

“I was such a fool. All those fights…using Liora to get under your
skin… None of it meant anything. She was just some pathetic,
clinging thing, and I—” His jaw tightened. “I let her weakness cloud my
judgment. Lia…can’t we wipe the slate clean?”

“No,” I said flatly, “I don’t love you anymore. Thorne, you don’t deserve my love. I’m fine, I deserve a pure, beautiful love, and a partner who will be wholeheartedly devoted to me.”

With that, I turned to leave.

Thorne, dragging his injured leg, stumbled after me, his body covered in blood, making it a harrowing sight.

I turned back, my voice cold, “Stop playing the victim. It’s useless.”

His body trembled slightly, his eyes full of despair. “No, Ophelia…”

Without hesitation, he walked straight to Xander, who smiled and extended his hand to me.

I exhaled, placing my hand in his. He took my hand, and we exchanged a smile before leaving without looking back.

Later, I heard that on the day of the mating ceremony, the car accident had left Liora seriously injured. She was taken to the pack doctors but didn’t survive.

As for Thorne, despite everyone’s objections, he dragged his wounded body to find me.

Because he didn’t receive treatment in time, the leg he had injured became severely infected, and ultimately, it had to be amputated.

Years later, when Xander and I were raising our two-year-old, people said Thorne still wandered the pack borders, calling my name to the moon.

“Where’s my Ophelia?” he’d slur to anyone who passed. “What happened to my Ophelia?” Then he’d laugh bitterly, tears streaming

down his scarred face. “That stupid boy at eighteen… If he could see
the man at twenty-eight… Gods, don’t let him forgive me. Don’t let
anyone forgive me.”
