Luna, Who No Longer Recognized Him Chapter 07

Declan’s face looked like it was about to crack apart.

Isolde chose that exact moment to walk over.

“Declan, since Aurora wants her freedom so badly, maybe you should let her go for a while. Let her cool down.”

“Once she’s had time to think, maybe things between you two can-

This time, Declan didn’t let her finish.

His Alpha command hit the air with so much uncontrolled fury that every guard in range bowed

their heads.

“Shut up.”

Isolde froze.

Declan stared her down.

“If you hadn’t kept telling me Aurora was faking it, that her trauma was an act, would we have ended up here?”

“This is your expertise?”

“You call yourself a marine consultant, and you couldn’t even recognize a beluga that had been held in captivity.”

“What’s the difference between you and dead weight?”

Isolde’s tears spilled over.

“Declan, you’re yelling at me?”

“We grew up together. When have you ever spoken to me like this?”

“Now you’re humiliating me in public for Aurora’s sake?”

Declan looked at her, cold as stone.

“Compared to Aurora, you’re nothing.”

“My Luna has only ever been her.”

“You’re the one who never understood where you stood.”

Isolde’s face cycled from white to green, and then the gentle mask finally ripped away entirely.

“If she wants to die so badly, just let her die!”

“A lunatic like her, and you still want to make her Darkwater’s Luna?”

Dead silence.

Everyone heard it.

And Declan finally saw the true face of the woman he’d been protecting all this time.

He pulled me closer, his voice shattered beyond repair.

“Aurora, I’m sorry.”

“You told me Isolde manipulated you into posting that campaign. That she tricked you into reporting the marine park. I didn’t believe you.”

“I’ll reopen the investigation.”

“From now on, I will believe you unconditionally. I will protect you.”

“Please stop hating me. Please stop trying to run from me.”

“I love you.”

“I can’t lose you again.”

I gave him the ghost of a smile.

“Declan, can’t you see?”

“We lost each other a long time ago.”

He refused to accept it.

He took me to a Pack trauma therapist.

The therapist was good. He tried everything to reach me.

But all I could see was his mouth opening and closing.

Whatever he said, I couldn’t hear it.

Until he brought out a small water tank.

Inside were blue seaweed and a few little ocean animal figurines.

My eyes finally focused.

The therapist asked gently, “You love the ocean, don’t you?”

I nodded.

“Why? Because it’s vast? Because it’s free?”

“Because the beluga I love came from there.”

“After I met it, I finally understood what the sea was saying.”

He was quiet for a long time.

Then he opened the door and looked at Declan, who was waiting outside with desperate hope

written all over his face.

“Alpha Langford, this isn’t ordinary grief.”

“Her wolf has anchored all of her sense of safety, her memories, and her emotional bonds to that

stretch of ocean.”

“Forced treatment will only tear her apart further.”

Declan crumpled like someone had drained every drop of strength from his body, collapsing to the

floor.

“There’s nothing else we can do?”

“I don’t care what it costs. Any price.”

The therapist could only shake his head.

“Let her go where she wants to be.”

“Let her do what brings her peace.”

“Beyond that, let nature take its course.”
