In A Wheelchair, They Still Can Only Look Up to Me Chapter 06

In A Wheelchair, They Still Can Only Look Up to Me Chapter 06

The living room fell into dead silence.

Garrick lunged at Evren and grabbed him by the

collar.

“Why?”

His eyes burned red. His Alpha aura surged out of

control, shaking the entire estate, rattling the

windows.

“She’s your sister! She donated her marrow for

Maelis, she’d just gotten out of surgery! Why

couldn’t you leave her even one bottle of

medicine?”

Evren knelt in the filthy water, his face was pale.

“I didn’t know. I thought she was faking it. I just

hated how she was always so perfect. I hated that whenever anyone mentioned the Vale kids, she

was always the first one they thought of!”

Maelis completely broke down too.

“Me too!”

She clutched at Selene’s hem, sobbing.

“Evren and I are your biological kids. But Dad

4

wanted her for his successor, and Mom practically put the crown on her head. After she donated her marrow to save me, you looked at her with so much pride. I was terrified the more she gave, the

more you’d love her, until there wouldn’t be any place left for me in this family!”

Selene stumbled back a step, as if seeing her daughter for the very first time.

“But Isolde was the family we chose.”

Her voice shattered into pieces.

“Blood is given at birth, but choice is a promise we made with our own hands. We should have loved her more, protected her more, than any bond of

blood could ever demand. Isn’t that right?”

Maelis sobbed and shook her head.

“Mom, I’m sorry. I just wanted you to love her a

little less. I never wanted her to die, I swear I never

did.”

“Enough.”

Garrick released Evren. He looked like he’d aged

ten years in an instant.

“As of today, you no longer hold any inheritance.

rights to the Vale family. You will leave Silverpine territory before sunrise.”

Evren’s head shot up.

“Dad!”

“Anyone who hurts their own sister out of jealousy

has no right to inherit my Pack. And I won’t allow one family member to stay here and keep hurting

another.” Garrick’s wolf howled in agony.

Two guards stepped in and removed the Pack

Emblems from Maelis and Evren.

But no one felt any satisfaction from it.

Because they all knew, the ones who truly

deserved to be cast out were themselves.

They were the ones who’d ignored Isolde’s wounds

and shoved her out onto a leaky patio. They were

the ones who’d driven past her as she collapsed in

the rain, just to take Maelis to some meaningless

bonfire.

The jealousy of Maelis and Evren was hateful

enough, but the ones who had truly handed them

the knife, again and again, were their parents, with their bottomless, unchecked indulgence.

Garrick suddenly turned to the two Agents and

dropped to his knees, hard.

“Let me see her.”

The once–unyielding Alpha’s voice was nothing but

pleading now.

“Even if it’s just through the glass of the ICU. Tell

her, Dad knows he was wrong. If she just survives this, I’ll give her the Alpha position, the

corporation, everything I have.”

Selene threw herself forward too, sobbing so hard she could barely breathe.

“Please tell her, her mother is waiting. I haven’t

even apologized to her in person. I can’t not even get to say goodbye.”

The Agent was silent for a moment, then stepped outside and placed an encrypted call.

After several agonizing minutes, he came back in.

Selene shot to her feet, a flicker of desperate hope igniting in her eyes.

But the Agent simply relayed four cold words.

“She doesn’t want to see you.”
