I’m The Spoiled Princess With Three Dads Chapter 06

Mrs. Warren went pale.

“I-I don’t know what she’s talking about—”

“You don’t?” Michael bent down, picked up her bag, and handed it back. “How convenient.”

He looked at Jonathan. “Jonathan, maybe ask around.”

Jonathan didn’t move. He leaned against the arm of the couch, looking down at Mrs. Warren from his full height.

“Mrs. Warren.”

“Mr.—Mr. Hart—”

“Back when my father was alive, you called me ‘Jonny.'” Jonathan said. “Twenty years ago.”

Mrs. Warren’s shoulders sagged.

“She,” she started, “she’s my cousin’s child. My cousin is—”

“Margaret Hart.” Jonathan finished. “My aunt.”

My head spun. I didn’t know who Margaret Hart was, but the name was Hart.

“Aunt Margaret’s been calling me a lot the last two years.” Jonathan’s voice stayed level. “Saying her granddaughter is smart, pretty, well-mannered. Wanted me to spend time with her.”

“I thought she was just trying to curry favor.” He paused. “Turns out she was trying to trade up.”

Mrs. Warren collapsed onto the couch.

Michael spoke calmly, “Mrs. Warren, you’ll receive a cease-and-desist from my office this afternoon.”

“Charges include coercion of a minor, assault, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Your cousin’s name will be on that suit too.”

“Mr. Reeves!” Mrs. Warren panicked. “You’re blowing this out of proportion! Sophie was just—just a child trying to win affection—”

“Affection?” My own voice cut through.

All three men and Mrs. Warren turned to look at me.

I clung to Doc Dad’s neck, tears still wet, but I looked straight at her.

“Ma’am,” I sniffled, “I wasn’t competing with her. She was trying to take my dads.”

The living room went dead quiet, my little hiccups the only sound.

Jonathan slowly turned his gaze to me in Daniel’s arms. His expression—I’d never seen it before. Like something inside him cracked, and then, quietly, pieced itself back together.

“Lily.” He crouched to my eye level. “Look at Big Dad.”

I did.

“You don’t have to compete with anyone. The Hart name is yours. Yours to keep. Yours to carry. Anyone else,” he glanced at Mrs. Warren, “can forget it.”

My tears started falling again. But this time they tasted sweet.

Mrs. Warren was helped out by her driver, her heel almost twisting off.
Michael pocketed his phone with a muttered, “Tsk. That’s it? Felt short.”

Doc Dad hoisted me higher on his shoulder and looked at me. “Lily, want to watch Big Dad take care of Margaret?”

I sniffled. “Yes.”

“Louder.”

“YES!”

All three men laughed together.

That night, I slept in the middle of Doc Dad’s big bed. Dad Two on my left, Big Dad on my right. None of them went home.

Just before I fell asleep, I glanced at the TV. It was off. But on the dark screen, a line of text floated by.

[WARNING: Main boss not defeated. Main quest incomplete.]

I shuddered. Pulled the blanket over my head.

I’ll deal with it tomorrow.
