I’m The Spoiled Princess With Three Dads Chapter 03

I’m The Spoiled Princess With Three Dads Chapter 03

Monday morning at kindergarten. Sophie didn’t show up—I heard she was taking private “one-on-one” English lessons at home. Fancy.

I sat on my little stool staring into space. Tommy Miller snuck up behind me. “Hey Lily, I’ve got a secret.”

I ignored him.

“My mom said your three dads aren’t gonna love you anymore.”

My crayon stopped moving.

“Mom saw it yesterday. A really pretty girl showed up at your Big Dad’s house. She’s gonna be his new daughter. After that, she’ll be the Hart family princess.”

I gripped my crayon so hard my fingers went white.

“You’re lying.”

“I’m not! Anyway, you’ve always been so mean. Your dads have wanted a replacement for a long time.”

“I’m not mean!” I shouted so loud the whole classroom went dead silent.

Tommy stumbled back, startled. Even I was surprised.

I used to hurl crayons at him or swing furniture around when upset. Today I only raised my voice.

Tommy recovered, pouted, and muttered, “See? That’s exactly why your dads don’t want you. You’ve got a bad temper.”

Tears rushed to my eyes, but I turned my head away so no one could see.

“I have been good,” I whispered, more to myself than to him. “I do my own hair now. I eat broccoli…”

Back at Big Dad’s house for lunch. Sophie was already there, sitting at the dining table in a pink dress and pearl headband.

I was still in my kindergarten uniform with dried finger paint on the collar.

Dad Two was there too—Michael. He usually acted disgusted even when I clung to his leg.

But when Sophie spotted him, her eyes lit up. She jumped off her chair and ran over. “Hello, Mr. Reeves!”

Michael blinked, then reached out and patted her braid. “…Good girl.”

My spoon clattered into my soup bowl. Soup splashed all over my face.

Michael frowned. “Lily, mind your table manners.”

His tone wasn’t harsh, but today it cut like glass.

Sophie hurried over with a handkerchief, dabbing my face. “Don’t rush, sweetie. Eat slowly, okay?”

I stared at her beautiful face inches away, and my face burned with held-back tears.

After lunch, Michael and Jonathan went into the study. I pressed my ear to the door.

“…Where did that girl come from?”

“Mrs. Warren’s kid. Staying a few days.”

“Seems bright. What’s wrong with Lily?”

“No idea.”

“Is it because of this girl?”

“…Probably not.”

“Probably not.” Those two words pricked my heart like tiny needles.

That afternoon, Doc Dad came to pick me up. Sophie ran to the door and called out in her sweet voice, “Hello, Mr. Pierce!”

Daniel didn’t say anything, but his brow twitched.

He was studying her. That was his “difficult patient diagnosis” look—clinical, detached, ice-cold. A tiny weight lifted off my chest.

Sophie pressed a strawberry candy into my hand. “For you, sweetie.”

“Thanks, Sophie,” I mumbled, clutching it tight.

Only when I got into the car did I unwrap it. Inside the candy wrapper was a small note, with crooked pencil handwriting:

[Lily Hart, your three dads will only love me from now on.]

I shuddered.
