I Won’t Reject You the Sixth Time Chapter 02

I Won’t Reject You the Sixth Time Chapter 02

“Ivy, let’s go home,” my wolf said.

But I answered, “No. I need to see the Elder.”

There was one more thing I had to verify.

Soon, I arrived at Streamveil Pack and met with the Elder.

There were two kinds of mates among wolves: a chosen mate, picked by oneself, and a fated mate, blessed by the Moon Goddess.

The bond between fated mates was indissoluble. If one rejected the other, they would suffer immense pain.

Chosen mates, on the other hand, were the result of free love among modern wolves. To maintain social order, wolves who became chosen mates had to sign a magical contract in the presence of the Elder.

Soon, I found Harlan’s contract. The names on it made my blood run cold.

“I thought it was just a coincidence of names. How could it really be her!” my wolf snarled inside me.

Floating in midair on the magical contract were two names.

One was Harlan, my childhood sweetheart and Alpha of Streamveil Pack. The other was Liora, an orphan I had rescued from a rogue’s lair.

She was an Omega. To protect her, I presented her as my sister to the outside world.

I played with her, bought her beautiful gowns, paid for her education, and chased away the bullies who bothered her.

She would often call my name affectionately and say that meeting me was the greatest luck of her life.

And yet, those two people had betrayed me.

Five years ago, Liora said she had found her chosen mate. I was overjoyed for her and wanted to throw a banquet to invite him.

But Liora made up excuses to stop me from meeting him. She said he was just an ordinary wolf and would feel very uncomfortable around a princess.

I understood and never brought it up again. Every time she showed off how romantic her mate was, I was genuinely happy for her.

Liora, when you saw my ignorant smile back then, did you secretly gloat about stealing my fated mate?

Liora, do you still remember saying that meeting me was the greatest luck of your life?

The betrayal of my fated mate already tore my heart apart.

But Liora’s betrayal, the girl I loved like a sister, made me want to vomit. My grief suffocated me.

“Ivy! Ivy! Are you okay?” my wolf called out urgently.

I shook my head and tried to steady my breathing.

I walked slowly back to my manor, my thoughts growing clearer by the minute.

I would reject Harlan as my mate, and I would drive Liora away, too.

But when I reached the manor gate, I saw warriors hauling medical supplies around the manor.

I stopped one warrior and frowned. “What’s all this chaos?”

The warrior answered nervously, “Princess, Liora injured her wrist in a fall from her horse. Alpha said this was the closest place, so he brought her here. These medicines are all by his orders.”

I saw several warriors coming out of my bedroom.

Fury blazed inside me. I stormed into the room and said angrily, “Harlan, this is my bedroom. How dare you let others barge in!”

Inside, Harlan was holding Liora’s wrist, applying medicine.

When he saw me, he froze. A flash of panic crossed his eyes.

But he quickly regained his usual composure.

“Ivy, I know you have a thing about cleanliness, but the healer said Liora’s wrist is badly sprained. I thought you’d have the best medicine here. Besides, don’t you treat Liora like your own sister?”

“My bedroom is not welcome to anyone!” I snarled, baring my fangs.

“Princess, are you angry with me?” Liora’s eyes turned red, and she scrambled to get off the bed, only to twist her ankle and fall straight into Harlan’s arms.

At that moment, a low growl rumbled from my throat. A wolf’s possessiveness over their fated mate. The warriors around us lowered their heads and stepped back.

But Liora smirked. She gave Harlan’s chest a fake little push, then sat back down on my pillow, showing off the suggestive bite mark on her neck.

“Ivy, I’ve always seen you as my sister. You’re not really mad, are you?”

“You used to spoil me the most.”

“And you know I already have a chosen mate. Why would I cheat with your fated mate?”

Her eyes were innocent, but her tone was full of smugness.

Under her sleeve, her fingers clung tightly to Harlan’s, refusing to let go.

The scene before me stirred up countless old memories, leaving a bitter taste in my mouth.

In the past, she’d had many “accidents” like this.

But because I saw her as a sister and knew she was already mated, I never thought twice.

I never realized that every one of her teasing words was a provocation.

I stared at her coldly. “Get off my bed. Return everything I’ve ever given you, within three days. And from now on, never to set foot in my manor again.”

Liora’s face went pale, her eyes filled with disbelief.

Harlan frowned and looked at me, his voice carrying a hint of reproach.

“Ivy, Liora is your sister. Why are you scolding her over something so trivial? She’s injured!”

“What?” I stared at him in disbelief, my heart feeling like it was being torn apart.

“I’m injured too! I was attacked by wraiths in the Dark Abyss, cut by thorns! Did you even ask about me?” I growled.

Harlan froze, suddenly at a loss.

But my anger quickly faded.

I supposed Harlan hadn’t done anything wrong. Liora was his mate. Protecting her was only natural.

It’s just…

“I have no sister. The Wolf King has only one daughter.”

“Alpha of Streamveil Pack, you are henceforth forbidden from entering my den.”
