I Was the Family Scapegoat Chapter 06

Dominic locked himself in the study for three days. No food. No water.

Curtains drawn. The air thick with cigarette smoke and whiskey. He sat slumped on the couch, phone screen lighting up his bloodshot

eyes.

The same video. He’d watched it over a hundred times.

Dark alley. Pouring rain. Rosalie pinned against the wall, clothes being ripped off

“Find them. His voice was wrecked. ‘Bring every single one of them to me.”

I Was the Family Scapegoat

The interrogation room.

Five men chained to chairs, beaten beyond recognition.

Ethan stood at the front, knuckles covered in blood-his or theirs, impossible to tell. Dominic leaned against the wall, silent, eyes dead.

“Who gave the order? Ethan grabbed one of them by the hair, voice dangerously low.

The man’s face was a bloody mess, teeth chattering. “Boss… we just did what you told us-

“I told you to SCARE her!” Ethan’s fist came down hard. “Not to actually touch her! Who the FUCK told you to go that far?!”

“It was…” The man’s jaw was half-broken, words slurring together. “It was Vanessa…”

The room went dead silent.

Dominic’s head snapped up.

Ethan froze, fist still raised.

“What did you say?”

“It was Vanessa!” The man clung to the words like a lifeline, confessing desperately. “Every time you gave us orders, she’d contact us after -double the pay, told us to take it further! That’s why we-

Ethan’s hand started to shake.

He turned to look at Dominic. The man’s face had gone white as a sheet.

“Bring Vanessa to me.” Dominic’s voice was quiet. Too quiet. Like words squeezed through clenched teeth. ‘Now.”

A guard left. Came back in less than ten minutes, face grim.

“Boss… Vanessa’s gone,”

“What do you mean, gone?

“Left last night. Said she was going to Europe to clear her head. Phone’s off. All her accounts have been emptied

Dominic closed his eyes. A vein throbbed at his temple.

Ethan kicked the table over with a roar.

“Keep talking!!” He whipped around to the men in chains. “Spill EVERYTHING you know!!”

The next two hours were a slow execution.

Every man fought to confess first, terrified that hesitation meant death.

One by one, piece by piece, Rosalie’s last three years were laid bare-

Every so-called “lesson” had been upgraded by Vanessa into real torture.

Every ‘scare tactic’ was never just a scare.

And every time Rosalie came back, kneeling on the ground covered in wounds, saying those men really hurt me-he told her to shut up.

Called it acting.

“Enough.”

Dominic’s voice cut through the room.

He walked to the door, all the strength drained from his frame.

‘Kill them.

The door closed behind him, muffling the screams.

Ethan caught up in the hallway, blocking his path.

‘Dominic!”

I know what you’re gonna say. Dominic didn’t turn around. “I don’t wanna hear it.”

‘But we need to-

“Need to WHAT?! Dominic spun around, eyes burning red. ‘Drag Vanessa back? Then what? Will Rosalie come back to lite?!

Ethan stood frozen.

The hallway was dead silent. Nothing but the sound of two men breathing hard.

A phone buzzed.

Ethan checked it mechanically. News alerts-

[New Doubts Surface in 9-Year-Old Serial Murder Case! Executed Convict Claimed “The Real Killer Is Still Out There!”]

[EXCLUSIVE: How Did the Eyewitness Identify the Killer So Accurately? Insider Reveals the Truth…]

[Victim’s Daughter Accused Her Adopted Sister for Years-Was Treated Like a Lunatic by Her Own Family! What Really

Happened?]

Ethan’s face changed instantly.

He scrolled frantically. The comments had exploded-

“Wait-who exactly was this adopted daughter who provided the tip? How did she know so many details?”

“I dug up the old case files. That guy swore he was innocent right up until they executed him!”

“Think about it… if the adopted daughter was really involved, then all these years she’s been living with the victim’s family…”

“The daughter who was driven to suicide-was she telling the truth? She kept saying her sister was the real killer, but nobody believed her…”

Ethan’s phone slipped from his fingers.

No way.

That case was closed years ago. The animal who killed his mother was executed. He watched them drag the man to the death chamber

himself.

But-

Rosalie’s voice exploded in his mind: “It was HER! She killed my mother! She was in on it!”

What did he say back?

He shoved her face into the cake.

He said she was delusional.

He told her to shut up.

What if Rosalie was telling the truth? What if Vanessa had been playing them all from the very beginning?

That woman who cried and trembled and looked so helpless in front of them-what the hell was hiding under that face?

“We… Ethan’s voice came out strangled. “What the hell… did we do…”

A guard approached quickly.

“Boss, we got a lead from the docks. Someone spotted Vanessa at Warehouse 13 in the West District an hour ago.”

Dominic’s eyes changed in an instant.

The deadness was gone. Replaced by pure, undisguised killing intent.

“Get the car.”

Ethan wiped his face, falling into step behind him.

“I’m coming with you.”

His voice was sharp as a poisoned blade-

“This time, I’m gonna break her bones one by one. With my own hands.”
