I Was Sent to the Casino Tycoon as Debt Repayment Chapter 02

My mood wasn’t as dark as it should’ve been.

I was about to see Victor.

Three months ago, he’d told me he had important business overseas — the kind that came with risks.

Before leaving, he’d arranged a safe place for me in Riverlet.

That’s where the Sterlings found me.

My biological parents, showing up with tears in their eyes and asking me to come home.

I’d wanted a family my whole life.

So I lowered my guard and went with them.

Turns out, “we love you” was nothing but empty words.

Everything they did showed they only cared about Chloe.

And now they were bringing me here because of her gambling problem.

It was the story of my life.

I kept losing the people who were supposed to choose me.

The car stopped at the casino’s private entrance.

A group of men walked out — cold expressions, unreadable faces.

“You’re Chloe?”

One of them looked past her toward me.

“Is this the person you’re bringing?”

Chloe stepped forward and pointed at me.

“Mr. Flint, isn’t the heir looking for someone who can help him?”

“This is Elena.”

“She’s the person I brought.”

“So can we consider my sister’s problem solved?”

Marcus Flint looked me over carefully.

“Slow down. We need to confirm everything first.”

He nodded toward the people behind him.

“Check her. Make sure everything matches what we were told.”

A wave of unease rushed through me.

I would never let them treat me like an object.

These people were nothing more than low-level employees who had no idea who I really was.

Then I remembered Victor’s signet ring.

Custom-made and completely unique.

It hung around my neck, and in his world, it represented his authority.

I stepped back, struggling to reach the chain.

Then I pulled off the ring and threw it at Marcus’s feet.

“Look at it.”

“Tell me what that is.”

He picked it up and examined it.

For a moment, recognition appeared in his eyes.

Then he threw it aside.

My body moved before my thoughts caught up.

I rushed forward to retrieve it, but I lost my balance and fell.

A sharp wave of pain rushed through me.

“Are you serious?”

“That’s Victor’s personal seal, and you just ignored it?”

Marcus smiled.

“We’ve heard about people pretending to have connections to the boss.”

He looked at me.

“Nice attempt.”

“And honestly, if you were really important to him, you wouldn’t be standing here like this.”

I stared at him.

Orders from above?

Who gave them?

And why?

I forced myself to stay focused.

Getting through this was the only thing that mattered.

“The ring is real. I’m Victor’s—”

Chloe interrupted before I could finish.

Her hand moved quickly, and my words disappeared.

My vision blurred for a moment.

Chloe saw the situation changing and immediately stepped forward.

She grabbed my collar and tried to take control of the situation.

“Mr. Flint, don’t mind her.”

“She’s confused.”

“It’s just a simple check, right? I’ll help.”

A wave of humiliation rushed through me.

I silently promised myself.

When I reached Victor, everyone who had looked down on me would remember this moment.

Marcus studied the situation for a long time.

Then he finally nodded.

“She’s the one.”

“Bring her inside.”

Chloe immediately relaxed.

Her smile was full of expectation.

“Mr. Flint, then my sister’s problem is solved?”

“Once Mr. Thorne makes his decision, this will no longer be your concern.”

I stopped resisting.

I followed them through the service entrance.

The deeper we went, the stranger everything felt.

This wasn’t the route to the penthouse.

They allowed me to move more freely.

I looked for a chance to escape.

But before I could get far, someone stopped me.

I stumbled back and caught myself against the railing.

The sudden shock made my vision fade for a moment.

“Don’t try that again.”

Marcus led us down the corridor to a door with an elegant frame and gold details.

His knock was almost respectful.

“Ms. Mercer.”

“She’s here.”
