I Was Just A Passerby Carrying His Twin Heirs Chapter 07

“Since you know,” Mrs. Vance set down her teacup.

“I’ll get straight to the point. How much do you want? Name your price. The Vance family can afford it.”

She pulled a checkbook from her handbag and placed it on the coffee table.

“A million? Two million? Five million?”

She looked up at me as if sizing up a piece of merchandise with a price tag.

“Sign the non-disclosure agreement, take the money, and never show your face near Grant again.”

Logan stood to the side, his expression extremely complicated.

Grant said nothing, his eyes fixed entirely on me.

I glanced down at the checkbook.

Then I looked back up.

“Mrs. Vance.”

“I don’t want a million, two million, or five million.”

A flash of satisfaction crossed her face.

She probably thought I was going to demand an even higher price.

I said, “I just want twenty-eight hundred dollars.”

Mrs. Vance’s smile completely shattered.

“…What?”

“Twenty-eight hundred dollars.”

I pulled out my phone, opened the screenshot of the clinic’s fee schedule, and held it out.

“The medical procedure fee is fifty-six hundred dollars. Fifty-fifty split means his share is twenty-eight hundred. If you want to pay on his behalf, Mrs. Vance, that’s fine too. Venmo or Zelle both work.”

Three pairs of eyes stared at me in the room.

Grant’s, Mrs. Vance’s, and Logan’s.

Three entirely different kinds of silence.

Grant’s silence looked like deep contemplation.

Logan’s silence looked like he was trying desperately not to laugh.

Mrs. Vance’s silence-

It was like a bomb had exploded inside her head, but no one had told her where the fuse was.

“You…”

Mrs. Vance’s voice went slightly out of tune.

“You said twenty-eight hundred?”

“Yes.”

“Dollars?”

“Yes.”

“Not… millions?”

I looked at her with utter seriousness.

“Mrs. Vance, I’m just getting a routine procedure, not taking a commercial space flight.”

The chat went completely wild.

Hahahahaha Mrs. Vance literally blue-screened on the spot!!

She really just wants twenty-eight hundred dollars, I’m dying! Someone hold Mrs. Vance up, her face is

turning green!

Mrs. Vance took a deep breath.

Then another.

She turned to look at Grant, her eyes screaming: Is this woman insane?

Grant didn’t catch her drift.

He kept his eyes on me, the corner of his lips pulling up into a tiny curve.

Unsure if it was a smile or something else.

He finally spoke.

“Miss Miller.”

“Yeah?”

“What if you don’t get the abortion-”
