I Was A Cold‑Blooded Gold Digger, But I Pretended To Bow Out Gracefully Chapter 02

After five years with him, everyone in the city knew how much I loved money.

Felix used to pinch my cheek and laugh. “Sienna, are you a walking vault? Money goes in, never comes out.”

But he also spoiled me the most, designer goods arriving nonstop.

He even put the penthouse in the city center in my name.

No one had ever treated me that well. I thought that was what love felt like.

Looking back now, I realized it was probably nothing to him, like crumbs tossed to a bird, not worth a second thought.

Just as Felix was about to speak,

Daisy’s eyes suddenly reddened. “Mr. Sterling, it’s too stuffy in here. Will you take me outside for some air?”

The hesitation in Felix’s eyes faded. He scooped Daisy into his arms.

I watched his back, the sour ache inside me boiling again.

The city wind was sharp that night. In the taxi, I sent the apartment listing to an agent.

When the agent heard it was a quick sale, he asked why.

I didn’t answer right away, because a transfer notification popped up. It was Felix.

He didn’t say a word, but sent me double the amount on the check.

I accepted it without guilt.

If the love was gone, the money should at least stay with me.

I opened the door quietly. The two people moving on the sofa clearly didn’t hear me.

Felix’s face was full of undisguised pleasure as he bent down and whispered to the girl.

Felix had been the center of attention since childhood, and he wasn’t the type to consider anyone else’s feelings.

He took whatever he wanted. I never had the right to say no.

But when Daisy pushed him away, her eyes red, he only frowned and held back.

He even coaxed her gently.

I laughed at myself and obediently backed out of the apartment.

I leaned against the door as their voices drifted through it, each one twisting something inside me.

I counted them, calculating how many more zeros I could still get out of him.

When they finally finished, Felix opened the door, his expression calm and unreadable.

“Did I interrupt something?”

Hearing how flat my voice was, Felix frowned without meaning to.

After all, I was the one who used to act jealous and fight for his attention in front of his mistresses.

“Daisy isn’t well, and this place is close to the central hospital. Move out and let her have it.”

My hands clenched without my permission.

Once, half-joking, I had hinted at my family situation.

His tone had been careless. “Sienna, I don’t like people playing the victim in front of me.”

But on my twenty-third birthday, it was also him who gave me this apartment.

“Being born without a home doesn’t mean you can’t build yourself one in the future.”

Now he wanted to give that home to another woman.

And all I could do was smile and say yes.

Daisy, wrapped in Felix’s suit jacket, blushed.

“I’m sorry, Sienna. I didn’t know this was your place.”

I looked at the rows of high heels in the shoe cabinet, then at the photo of Felix and me hanging in the hallway.

“Ms. Moore has poor eyesight.”

Daisy’s eyes instantly reddened.

The next second, Felix pulled her into his arms, his voice cold.

“She’s young and throwing a little tantrum. Do you have to make a fuss? Sienna, remember your place.”

“Apologize.”

I had ridden on Felix’s indulgence for years, but this was the first time he had used that tone with me because of another woman.

I took a deep breath and put on a smile. “I’m sorry, Ms. Moore.”

“I’ll go pack my things now. Don’t let me disturb you.”

He seemed not to have expected me to give in so easily. Emotions flickered in his eyes.

“Sienna, I didn’t tell you to leave.”

My heart suddenly jumped.
