I Turned Down the Cheap Graduation Trip-Then My Class Vanished Overseas Chapter 07

That evening, my parents had just returned from work, and we were eating dinner when the doorbell rang.

Noah’s parents stood outside, both visibly panicked.

“Noah isn’t answering his phone. Do you know where he is?”

They asked me the moment they stepped inside.

“Didn’t he leave for Europe? He might still be on a plane, or maybe he didn’t activate international

roaming.”

Their faces grew even more anxious.

“I checked the flight schedule. They should have landed at the connecting airport hours ago, but his

phone has been off the entire time.”

I set down my fork.

I already suspected something had gone wrong, but I wasn’t going to jump to conclusions without

evidence.

“I don’t know where he is. If you’re worried, contact the police and the airline immediately.”

Joining that suspicious budget tour had been Noah’s choice, and it had nothing to do with me.

But his mother immediately turned on me.

“You knew they were traveling with some suspicious company no one had verified. Why didn’t you stop him sooner? If something happens to him, are you really going to pretend none of this is on

you?”

Both of my parents’ expressions hardened.

I looked directly at her.

“I originally arranged a legitimate trip for the entire class. Your son publicly accused my family of exploiting our classmates, then chose the cheaper tour. I warned him more than once. His refusal

to listen does not make this my fault.”

Noah’s father raised his voice.

“Why would you say something like that? Are you trying to jinx my son?”

“That’s enough.”

Dad stepped in front of me.

“Your son secretly signed up for that tour because he wanted to save money. Now that something may have happened, instead of asking yourselves why you knew nothing about his plans, you’ve come here to blame my daughter. That’s completely unreasonable.”

Noah’s mother looked at me in disappointment.

“Erin, we’ve always treated you like family. You knew he was leaving the country, and you never told us.”

She had treated me well in the past.

That did not give her the right to ignore the facts and dump all the blame on me.

“Noah kept a photo of my passport without permission and used my personal information to register me for the trip. The only reason I didn’t report him to the police was that our families had known each other for years.”

I took out my phone.

“If you’re truly worried about him, give the police every flight record, payment receipt, and piece of information you have about the tour operator. The longer you wait, the more likely it is that they’ve already been taken away from the airport.”

An overseas layover, an absurdly cheap tour, and a ten-hour stop in a high-risk area raised two horrifying possibilities no one could afford to ignore: human trafficking or a scam compound.

I had feared the worst.

I never expected the worst to become real.

That same night, several parents who could not contact their children filed police reports together.

Because many of the students had hidden the trip from their families, the parents had very little useful information.

The police pulled the airport records and checked the connecting flight the group was supposed to take to Europe.

Not one of the thirty-nine students had boarded the second plane.

All thirty-nine of them were stranded somewhere in the transit country.

One parent fainted the moment they heard the news.

The others broke down, crying and begging the police to find their children before it was too late.

As the only student from our class who had not boarded the plane, I was asked to assist with the

investigation.
