The message was absurd.

I had never said I was joining their trip, yet they had made the decision for me and were now accusing me of ruining our last class activity together.

“This trip was optional from the start. I’m not going, and I don’t need anyone’s permission.”

After sending the message, I left the group chat.

We had already graduated. There was no reason to stay in it anymore.

The next day, Blair arrived at the travel agency as scheduled, and Mom and I personally went over the package with her.

“The price includes round-trip airfare, assistance with entry paperwork, a tour director, accommodations, and meals. Most of the major attractions are included too. The travelers only need to show up at the designated meeting times. We’ll handle everything else.”

Blair carefully read every page, looking more satisfied by the minute.

At the end of the packet, we had included genuine reviews from previous customers.

Most were positive, but we had also kept several complaints about meeting times, the food provided on the tour, and the pace of the itinerary.

We never deleted criticism because no tour could satisfy every traveler one hundred percent.

I sent Blair the digital copy. The moment she forwarded it to her class group chat, replies flooded her phone.

“Everyone agreed. They’re ready to pay.”

After confirming the details with Mom, I took out the parental consent forms and emergency medical authorization forms.

Most of the graduates were already eighteen, but their parents were still paying for the trip, so we also required confirmed emergency contacts and medical authorization in advance.

Blair took the documents with her and agreed to return in three days with the completed forms and the full payment.

As I walked her out, I spotted a familiar figure in the distance.

Noah hurried toward me, sounding excited.

“Lily just told me that because thirty-nine of us booked together, the company gave us a fortieth spot for free. Everyone agreed to give it to you, so you can come without paying anything.”

I couldn’t understand why they were so determined to drag me into that tour.

This clearly wasn’t just kindness.

I even suspected Lily had another reason for wanting my name on the list.

“I don’t want it. I’m not joining that tour, so stop making decisions for me.”

Noah’s expression darkened instantly.

“Why can’t you just accept that someone is trying to do something nice for you? Lily’s helping everyone save money. You’re the one who tried to profit off your own classmates. Now we’re offering you a free trip to Europe, and you’re still acting like you’re too good for us.”

The $699 wasn’t the issue.

I refused because I didn’t trust the company, and I wasn’t willing to gamble with my safety just to save money.

I looked straight at him.

“You signed up behind your parents’ backs, didn’t you? Leave me alone, or I’ll tell them exactly where you’re going.”

Noah’s family wasn’t short on money either.

He was their only child. If they found out he had joined the suspicious budget tour Lily had found online, they would stop him immediately.

He went silent.

Several seconds later, he said in an icy voice, “You’ll regret this, Erin.”

After he left, Blair looked at me in confusion.

“Why aren’t you going with them?”

“They found a twelve-day trip to Europe for $699. I don’t trust anything priced that low.”

Blair stared at me for two seconds.

“$699? That doesn’t even cover the airfare. Best case, they’ll be dragged from store to store and pressured to spend money. Worst case, their passports could be confiscated, and they might not be allowed to leave at all.”

I didn’t answer.

The risks I feared went far beyond forced shopping.
