I Traveled Back Ten Years, Only to Witness His Love for Another Chapter 06

It all felt like a dream, but the ring I never took off was gone.

I had proof.

I’d seen eighteen-year-old Ethan’s love for another girl.

I searched everywhere until I found his old diary.

Page after page, all about Lily—her likes, her dreams, the fireworks on her eighteenth birthday, the night he got drunk at her wedding.

He wrote:

[I should love someone else now.]

But he could fool the diary, not himself.

There were still so many traces of Lily in our life.

The beach where we’d gone on our first date—it was the place he’d once promised to take her.

He wrote:

[I went to Tahiti, the trip you stood me up for. I stood in the South Pacific rain. You said travel helped ease pain—so why do I still hurt?]

The blue roses he used to propose—her favorite flower.

He wrote:

[Your favorite flower, but unfortunately, not my favorite person.]

All those happy moments—he’d been thinking of her.

I wanted to cry, but no tears came.

All that was left was a bitter smile.

I forced a smile but couldn’t find any meaning in it.

Ethan really was devoted, wasn’t he?

I called him.

He answered quickly, his voice warm:

“What’s up, honey? I’m at a business dinner. It’s all guys—Leo’s here. Don’t worry. I won’t do anything to betray you.”

I got the address, hung up, and left.

The diary fell to the floor.

The last few pages were torn out—I didn’t know what they said.

It didn’t matter.
