I Signed Away My First Love, Then Married Someone Else Chapter 02

I Signed Away My First Love, Then Married Someone Else Chapter 02

Madeline posted a shocked GIF.

Then she attached a photo.

She was wearing a diamond ring, one hand resting on Ethan’s shoulder.

She’d placed the ring dead center in the frame.

The diamond caught the light so fiercely it almost hurt to look at.

“No need to speculate. The custom engagement ring Ethan ordered is right here with me.”

The chat went silent for two seconds.

“So the one Claire’s wearing is fake?”

“She bought herself a knockoff so she could keep pretending?”

“It looks pretty convincing. She almost fooled me.”

“@Claire, seriously, wake up. He already gave the ring to Maddie. Who are you trying to provoke with that fake?”

Grant sent a voice note. A long sigh came first.

“All right, enough. She’s hurting. Let her wear it if she wants.”

Nate chimed in as well.

“Yeah. Fake or not, if it helps her cope, let her have it. As long as she stays away from the wedding.”

Madeline reacted to the voice note with a wounded emoji.

“Claire, please don’t do this. If that ring means so much to you, I’ll give it back after Ethan and I are married.”

Ethan, silent until then, finally responded with two words.

“Not necessary.”

The moment the groom-to-be spoke, the chat came alive again.

“Ethan finally said something!”

Someone who clearly lived for the drama tagged the entire group.

“Since we’re all here, let’s settle a bet. Will she still crash the wedding after signing that agreement?”

“I’m betting she shows up.”

“Knowing her? She’s definitely planning something huge. She’ll storm in and try to steal the groom.”

“Picture her barging in wearing a wedding dress. That would be insane.”

Someone tried to stop them.

“Knock it off. She’s probably reading every word.”

“So what? @Claire, say something. Are you coming or not?”

Madeline sent a tearful voice message.

“Ethan… I’m scared. Claire didn’t even hesitate before cutting her wrists over you. What if she…”

Ethan tagged me directly.

“The agreement was our polite way of telling you not to cause a scene at Friday’s wedding. If you do, whatever is left between us is over for good.”

I watched the messages pour in.

More and more names appeared in the betting pool.

They kept guessing.

They decided the ring was fake and that I was only lying to myself.

They decided I’d signed so easily because I was playing hard to get.

They decided I would show up and destroy the wedding.

Not one of them considered that I might actually be done with him.
