I Rejected My Alpha Mate After Rebirth Chapter 06

The blood bag slowly filled while darkness crept over my 

vision. 

Eventually, I couldn’t hold on any longer. 

I blacked out. 

Right before losing consciousness, I remembered the way 

Landon had looked at me before dying in my last life. 

Cold. Resolute. Final. 

As though even death wasn’t enough distance between us. 

Tears slipped silently down my cheeks. 

“Landon…” I whispered weakly. “This time… I won’t cling to 

you anymore.” 

When I woke again, I was back in my original hospital room. 

I must have slept for a long time. Sunlight spilled through 

the windows, golden and dim. 

It was already the afternoon of the third day. 

It was time for me to leave. 

I called for a nurse and borrowed her phone. 

Not long after the call ended, Landon walked into the room 

carrying a large insulated container. 

The rich scent of venison soup filled the air instantly. 

One glance told me it wasn’t made by a restaurant chef. 

I lifted a spoonful and tasted it. 

“Did you make this?” 

Landon immediately looked away, but I still caught the 

softness hidden beneath his indifferent tone. 

“I added a lot of medicinal herbs. The healer said it would 

help replenish blood.” He paused briefly. “Layla’s out of 

danger now. Thank you.” 

I swallowed another spoonful before looking up at him. 

“Landon… when I fell into the river last year, if it had been 

someone else instead of me, you would’ve saved them too, 

right?” 

He looked startled by the question but nodded quickly. 

“Of course. Protecting people is an Alpha’s responsibility.” 

Something stabbed straight through my chest. 

Tears welled in my eyes, but I forced myself to smile brightly 

anyway. 

“Then you don’t owe me thanks.” I lowered my gaze. “Saving 

Layla was the right thing to do. A year ago, you saved my 

life. Now I’ve saved the woman you love. That debt between 

us is finally repaid.” 

And so was our fate together. 

My voice softened. 

“I was immature before. After my parents died, I clung to you 

constantly. I just… wanted a home so badly. I depended on you too much.” I laughed weakly. “Forcing you into a mark and a mate bond with me must’ve made you miserable, huh? 

Don’t worry. I’ll change.” 

I would change the habit of loving him. 

The habit of following him everywhere. 

I would never stand beside him as his Luna. 

Never bear his pups. 

He would no longer have to give up the woman he truly loved. 

Would never spend fifty years trapped inside a painful mate bond. 

And he certainly wouldn’t die trying to save me again. 

For the first time, genuine panic flashed through Landon’s 

eyes. 

He opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, a nurse burst into the room. 

“Alpha Landon! Miss Layla’s awake! She’s been calling for you 

nonstop!” 

I saw it instantly. 

The light in his eyes. 

A brightness I had never once received from him. 

He shot to his feet immediately, but then hesitated and 

looked back at me. 

“Go,” I said with a smile as tears rolled uncontrollably down. 

my face. “She needs you more.” 

Landon stood frozen for several seconds, his throat bobbing 

hard. 

“Nora, wait for me. I…” 

“Landon.” I cut him off gently, my voice light as falling snow. 

“In this life… you have to be happy.” 

His expression shifted instantly, unease darkening his features. 

“What do you mean ‘this life‘? We still have forever.” He 

frowned. “Get some rest. I’ll be back soon. There’s 

something I need to tell you.” 

Then he turned and left. 

His footsteps faded farther and farther down the hallway. 

I slowly lifted my fingers to my neck. 

There would never be an afterward. 

The third silver thread of fate had finally snapped. 

I climbed into a wheelchair and quietly left the hospital. 

Outside, the sunflowers near the entrance were in full bloom. 

Bright gold beneath the afternoon sun. 

Warm enough to make my chest ache. 

But I would never receive the bouquet I had once waited for. 

After settling Layla down, Landon rushed straight back to my 

hospital room. 

Only to find it empty. 

He spun around, ready to search for me, when a nurse 

entered during routine rounds. 

Seeing the vacant bed, she frowned immediately. 

“Where’s Nora?” she asked sharply. “She just underwent a 

miscarriage procedure. Her body’s still extremely weak. Why 

would anyone let her leave the bed?”
