Cole had always been the genius, the golden boy.

Life had been easy for him-he’d never had to fight for anything.

So he truly believed that if he just turned around, I’d run back to him.

Three days later, the cloud footage was fully restored.

The fire department and the institute released the official report together.

The cause was clear:

Grace was solely responsible.

“I don’t believe it.”

Cole’s eyes were stubborn. “You must have misread it. Something’s off.”

“I want the full video released-otherwise I won’t accept this.”

The institute heads exchanged looks.

“Cole, you know cameras don’t lie. We’re keeping this quiet to protect you.”

“Are you sure you want it shown to everyone?”

Grace’s eyes darted nervously. “Maybe we shouldn’t-”

“I’m sure.” Cole cut her off.

The screen lit up. The footage played.

It showed the lab, one hour before the fire.

Grace was alone-drinking.

That alone was against every rule.

Gasps filled the room.

No one doubted who was responsible anymore.

Then Cole appeared in the footage.

His face went pale.

“Turn it off!”

But it was too late.

In the video, Grace, slurring her words, said:

“Why does Luna get him? We’re the ones who belong together!”

“Everyone sees it-everyone knows we’re meant to be!”

“If I’d just acted sooner, she wouldn’t even have had a chance.”

Then she leaned in and kissed him.

Cole froze in the footage.

His expression was blank.

And in that moment, Grace’s arm bumped a small, hidden button on the equipment. No one noticed.

But an hour later, that single touch would cause a short circuit-

Grace laughed bitterly.

“Please. You’re the one who abandoned her at the wedding.”

“You’re the one who ignored her.”

“And now you want to point fingers at me?”

She stepped closer, eyes blazing.

“I wanted your attention, sure. But you’re the one who didn’t push me away when I kissed you.”
