I Prepared Our Wedding, For His Another Bride Chapter 02

I’d spent weeks scrolling through endless reviews to pick this venue, comparing every option for hours on end.

Cyrus had brushed me off every time I asked for his input, claiming he was swamped with work and told me to make all the decisions alone.

But right there in the ledger, Cyrus’s booking was logged half a month earlier than mine. Under “Bride’s Name,” it didn’t read Elowen Astor. It read Bianca Lynch.

The coordinator noticed me staring blankly at the page and laughed lightly. “Funny coincidence, right? This couple picked the exact same venue layout and decor package as you did.”

Memories flooded back all at once: Cyrus always too busy to help plan, me staying up late drafting every tiny wedding detail, gushing over my little surprise ideas to him only to get a half-hearted “yeah, sounds fine” in reply.

Tears blurred my vision as I stared hard at the name Bianca Lynch printed in bold ink.

A bitter laugh escaped me. I’d spent months planning a wedding for someone else all along.

“The bride absolutely adores Seattle,” the coordinator chatted on. “The groom booked this venue the second she graduated—couldn’t wait to throw her the wedding she dreamed of.”

I pulled up Bianca’s Instagram. Her feed had been flooded with couple photos for over a year.

None of the shots showed his face, but after eight years together, I’d recognize Cyrus anywhere.

A text from Bianca popped up mid-scroll: [If someone doesn’t love you anymore, you ought to step back and let go, don’t you think?]

We’d met eight years ago, freshman year, when Cyrus and I accidentally boarded the same wrong flight.

We hit it off instantly, and after a year of getting to know each other, we started long-distance dating.

Even miles apart, he’d never given me a single reason to doubt him.

He was shamelessly public about our relationship—everyone at the University of Washington knew star basketball player Cyrus had a girlfriend he was head over heels for.

He’d turn down every girl offering him water after practice, and personally reply to every campus post to say he was taken.

The second we graduated, he turned down a lucrative job offer in his location and flew straight to my city to be with me.

He’d squeezed my hands tight and promised me everything. “My career matters, but nothing matters more than you, Elowen. I never want to be apart from you again.”

I’d never once questioned how much Cyrus loved me—but every happy photo on Bianca’s Instagram cut straight to my chest.

He’d scheduled her wedding booking before mine. The only entry with my name on the ledger was the quick draft I’d filled out when I first inquired about the venue.

I didn’t hesitate another second, signing the paperwork to cancel my booking.

The moment my pen lifted off the page, Cyrus stormed through the door.

The coordinator told me the wedding was officially canceled, and he strode over to me in an instant. “You canceled the wedding? Are you serious? Do you have any idea how much work I put into this?”

I ripped my wrist free of his grip, holding the ledger up to his face and speaking slow, deliberate words. “All that effort you poured into planning was for Bianca’s wedding. What does any of it have to do with me?”

“I handled every single detail of our wedding by myself from start to finish. I’m fully within my right to cancel it.”

The second he saw Bianca’s name on the booking form, shock flashed across his face for a split second.

He recovered fast, though. “It’s just a graduation gift for Bianca. It’s nothing like our wedding.”

“If a wedding can be handed over as a gift to another girl, I don’t want any part of it at all.”

I set the ledger down and turned to leave, but Cyrus grabbed my arm hard enough to trap me in place.

He wasn’t paying attention to the tall flower stand tipping over behind him.

The wooden frame crashed down. Cyrus instantly let go of me and sprinted to yank Bianca back to safety, shielding her from the falling decor.

The full weight of the wooden stand slammed straight into me.

I crumpled to my knees, a sharp, stabbing pain exploding low in my abdomen.

I couldn’t shake the heavy wood pinning me down, and a quiet whimper slipped out before I could hold it back.

Venue staff rushed over immediately. “Get her checked out fast—she’s got bad swelling and cuts all over her face.”

Cyrus kept his arm wrapped around Bianca, glancing down at me on the ground with a dismissive glare. “That frame barely weighs anything. She’s fine, she’s just overreacting.”

Bianca giggled out loud. “Baby, don’t you remember? This is her attention-seeking act.”
