Sean only joined this company after we got married.

His academic background was poor, and his skills were lacking.

Over the years, he only managed to gain a foothold because I personally guided him through projects.

A few days later,

Maya sent me a compressed file.

It contained all of Sean’s chat logs from his office computer and his messages with Jade.

I clicked it open.

The screen was flooded with dense logs dating back to last March.

I scrolled down, my fingertips turning cold.

The most recent one read:

“Sean, you look so handsome in that suit today. It really shows off your frame.”

“You don’t say.”

“You’re not old at all. Claire doesn’t deserve you. Besides money, what right does she have to stand next to you? Just because she has company shares? Big deal.”

“The board meeting is in three days. I have evidence to take Claire down. Then her position will be

mine.”

“You’re amazing, Sean! I’m behind you all the way!”

Followed by a string of smirking emojis-the kind Sean never sent to me.

I scrolled up.

Last Thanksgiving, he said he was with his parents. The logs showed a location share at a boutique cabin in the mountains with Jade.

On New Year’s Eve, he claimed to be at a friend’s house. The photos showed two locked hands against a background of riverfront fireworks; on his wrist was the Rolex I had given him.

I had fed Sean too well.

So well that he could no longer see his own true standing.

Ding. A message from Maya.

“Look what else I found. Your husband is a real piece of work.”

Immediately after, she sent a video.

It was in my office. Sean had unbuttoned his shirt and was engaged in an affair with Jade on my

desk.

I clenched my fists.

A surge of fury welled up in my chest.

I dragged the video into the folder.

Three days later, at the Board Meeting,

The central AC was blasting, but I felt my blood boiling.

Veterans of the company sat on both sides of the long table. Sean sat to my left, and Jade sat at the end as the project representative. He was wearing that dark gray custom suit today-the one Jade had praised in the logs.

“Claire, shall we begin?” the Chairman tapped the table.

I stood up and plugged the USB drive into the projector.

“Before I report on the quarterly performance, I’d like everyone to see something.”

Sean suddenly stood up and spoke.

The next second, the screen lit up.

It was a collection of various receipts and invoices.

“Over the years, Claire Sterling has used her position to misappropriate company funds. Look at these travel invoices-she could have stayed at modest hotels, but she insisted on five-star luxury.”

I glanced at the screen. Those invoices were indeed signed by me. Last year’s merger talks in

Chicago required three weeks at the company’s partner hotel; the year before, I took the team to trade show in Germany and arranged business suites. Every single one had a complete approval

process and could withstand any audit.

“Is that it?” I laughed. “Sean, you call this misappropriation?”

He didn’t answer. Instead, he pulled another document from his briefcase, the edges curled from

the pressure of his grip.

“And this. Claire’s personal account has received multiple offshore transfers over the last two years totaling $4.7 million. The sender is our competitor in Singapore, StellarTech.”

A collective gasp filled the room.

I noticed Jade’s lip twitch-a nervous habit of hers.

“Claire, is this true?” Mark, the CFO, stood up, his glasses sliding to the tip of his nose. “We need an

explanation…”

“No explanation needed,” I interrupted him, pulling my phone from my blazer pocket.

“But I do need to show everyone something else.”

I clicked on the backup video Maya had sent me at dawn and connected my phone to the projector.

The moment the image flickered to life, Sean’s face turned deathly pale.
