I No Longer Want The Blessing You Brought From Snowy Mountain Chapter 07

I No Longer Want The Blessing You Brought From Snowy Mountain Chapter 07

I hung up. My head spun.

Ethan begged her back? He told her I was just duty?

The whole time he’d been camped outside the gallery, selling cattle—was it all an act?

The punch landed again.

Luke saw my face.

“You okay?”

“Yeah.”

I forced myself to breathe.

After work, I didn’t go home. I went to Ethan’s hotel. I needed the truth.

In the lobby, I spotted him right away. He was tangled up with a woman. That woman—Elena. She was clinging to his arm, sobbing.

“Ethan, you can’t send me away! I came back for you! You said you’d take care of me forever!”

He tried to shake her off. “When did I ever say that?! Stop being ridiculous!”

“You did! When you saved me, you said it!”

“I was trying to calm you down—you were half dead! You believed that?”

“I don’t care—I believed it!”

I stood there, watching.

So he didn’t beg her back. She followed him.

But it didn’t matter anymore.

Ethan looked up. Saw me. His face went pale. He shoved Elena away.

“Dawn!”

He rushed over, panicked.

“Dawn, don’t get the wrong idea—she just showed up—I was about to tell her to leave—”

Elena saw me too. She blinked, then charged over.

“Dawn, you bitch—stay away from him!” She raised her hand to slap me.

Ethan caught her wrist mid-swing. “Elena, what the hell!” He flung her back. She stumbled and hit the floor.

“You pushed me—for her?”

Elena sat on the ground, staring up at him in disbelief. “You forgot who nursed you through a three-day fever? Who held you together when your dad died?”

Ethan froze.

I didn’t know any of that.

He never told me.

When his father passed, I was away training. I wanted to come back.
He’d said on the phone, “Don’t. Road’s unsafe. Focus on your work.
I’m fine. I can handle it.”

But he wasn’t fine. He had someone.

Elena, crying harder now, looked at me.

“Ethan told me you’re too strong. Like a rock. You don’t need anyone.
Me? I’m a kitten. I need someone to take care of me.”

She turned to me. “See, Dawn? He’s always loved me!”

Ethan’s face was gray. He opened his mouth, but nothing came out.

Because everything she said—it was probably what he really thought.

I looked at him, pathetic, and felt nothing but hollow.

“Then I wish you both happiness.”

I turned away.

“Dawn!”

He sprinted after me, grabbing my arm.

“It’s not like that—let me explain!”

“Let go.”

“No!”

Right then, Luke’s car pulled up at the hotel entrance.

He got out and walked over. Looked at Ethan, then at me. Then calmly, to Ethan:

“Sir. Please take your hands off my girlfriend.”
