I Married The Beast Commander, Not His Match Chapter 13

I Married The Beast Commander, Not His Match Chapter 13

Gideon walked onto the makeshift stage.

The crowd fell quiet.

He stood there and scanned the faces until he found me.

“There’s something I need to say.”

Julian frowned but didn’t stop him.

Gideon’s voice was steady.

“Most of you have probably heard the rumors about our Registry data by now.”

“The data was wrong. Audrey isn’t my true mate.’

A murmur rippled through the crowd.

“But this is what I want to say.”

Gideon looked at me.

“I don’t care.”

“I didn’t marry her because of a system score. And I’m not staying with her because of one either.”

“She is my wife. My only wife.”

“And that isn’t changing.”

The crowd went silent.

Then someone started clapping.

Julian stood in the crowd, a knowing smile on his face.

I stood where I was, blinking hard.

[The ML just confessed in front of EVERYONE!]

[I’M SCREAMING. This is SO sweet!!]

[But what about his family?? His dad won’t just accept this, right??]

Gideon stepped off the stage and came straight to me.

“Satisfied?”

“It was okay.”

He smiled.

After the event wound down, the guests cleared out.

The property went quiet again.

Gideon helped me clean up. We worked from late afternoon straight into the evening.

When the light finally faded, we sat together at the edge of the property.

The rows of crops stretched out in front of us. In the distance, light glowed from the farmhouse windows, and the pens were quiet except for the occasional soft bleat.

“Audrey.”

“Yeah?”

“My father won’t be a problem anymore.”

“Why?”

“I showed him the equity transfer agreement.”

Gideon looked at me.

“Ten percent of Sterling Group, in your name. That shut him up.”

I stared at him.

“You gave up shares to keep me?”

“Worth it.”

I looked into his eyes.

In the moonlight, his amber eyes were bright.

“Gideon.”

“Yeah?”

“Have you had feelings for me this whole time?”

He was quiet for a moment.

“Maybe. I just didn’t realize it.”

“Idiot.”

“Yeah. Your idiot.”

[I AM DEAD. This is too sweet.]

[The ML finally got it together.]

[So when are they gonna make it official, though??]

[These comments are sending me, y’all are so impatient lol.]

Gideon leaned in close.

Mint. That clean, cool scent.

“Audrey.”

“Yeah?”

“This time… is this okay?”

I looked into his eyes.

My pulse was racing.

“I thought you said you were afraid you’d hurt me.”

“I’ll be careful.”

“Promise?”

“Promise.”

He drew me into his arms.

Under the moonlight, our shadows merged into one.

The lambs in the pens had gone quiet. The crops swayed in the night breeze, soft and unhurried.

We didn’t go any further that night.

Gideon just held me, and we sat at the edge of the property until morning.

When the sky began to lighten, he looked down at me, asleep in his arms.

He said it quietly, almost to himself.

“Audrey, thank you for not leaving.”

The comments scrolled one final time.

(Okay, I take back everything I said. This story was perfect.)

Then the comments vanished.

From here on, the story was ours to write.
