I Dated Twin Guys As Their Online Experiment, But I Had My Own Plan Chapter 11

The way Owen went after me was nothing like Evan or Ethian. He didn’t send good morning or goodnight

texts.

He’d leave a hot latte at my usual library spot. He never called me baby. He’d just show up outside the lecture

hall when it rained, holding an umbrella.

He was never hot and cold. With him, it was steady–the kind of warmth that felt good without ever burning

you

One evening, we sat on the bleachers overlooking the campus quad. The night breeze was perfect, and the

academic buildings glowed in the distance.

“Did you finish your project report?” he asked.

“Done.”

“Can I read it?”

I pulled the printed copy out of my bag and handed it over. He paged through it slowly. When he got to the last sheet, his finger stopped on the professor’s handwritten feedback.

He read it out loud. “Recommend the author experience a positive romantic relationship firsthand, rather than documenting only anxiety fluctuations.” He looked up. “Your professor’s right.”

“What?”

“You should experience a positive romantic relationship now.”

“You’re starting again.” I nudged him, laughing. He pretended to topple from the push, slumping against the bleacher seat, then turned his head to look at me. “Nora, you still haven’t answered my earlier

question.”

“Which question?”

“You said I could take you out. You never told me if I’d actually get anywhere.”

I considered it. “Depends on your game.”

“What would you give me so far?”

“Eight out of ten.”

“Where’d the other two points go?”

“You ask too many questions. Minus one.”

“And the other point?”

“I’m leaving room for improvement.”

He laughed, bright and unguarded. Far off, someone set off fireworks, They exploded across the night sky with a hollow boom, washing the world in momentary light.

The light washed over his face, and I swear there were stars in his eyes. Not the metaphorical kind. Actual

stars.

The comments hushed, like they were taking in the moment, then started to drift again.

[This is the kind of love the side character deserves.]

[The twins? Who are they again?]

[Speaking of, what’s been going on with them lately? Feels like it’s been quiet.]

[Apparently they completely fell out with the female lead. She couldn’t keep the mask on anymore, and her

true colors came out.]

[Serves them right.]

I leaned back against the bleachers, watching the distant fireworks, the corner of my mouth curling up. This day had come a little later than I expected. But the timing was right. The things that come too early are

rarely the best.
