I Accidentally Slept With My Future Brother In Law Chapter 07

The long banquet table was covered with white linen.

Silver candlesticks cast dim, flickering light.

The butler stepped forward and bowed quietly. “My lord, what shall we serve for tonight’s family dinner?”

Before Rowan could speak, Elian, the Knight Commander, moved first.

His wolf-like eyes cut through the candlelight and fixed straight on me.

“I’d like peacock pie.”

He paused, a playful smile tugging at his lips.

“After all, the bright yellow crust matches tonight’s moon perfectly, doesn’t it? My dear…

sister-in-law?”

Yellow stood for betrayal and jealousy.

He bit down hard on the word “sister-in-law.”

My hand under the table tightened. My mouth twitched. “Y-yes…”

Rowan sat at the head, swirling his ruby goblet casually, his tone unreadable.

“I’ll have hare.”

The butler noted it down.

“With greens.” Rowan added.

The butler wrote again.

“With fresh mint sauce.” Rowan lifted his eyes and glanced at me.

“And a saffron bisque.”

Green and yellow.

Peacock pie in bright yellow, sauce in vivid green, saffron in gold.

Were they ordering food… or sending me a message?

Diana had been looking forward to eating, but her face fell at the three dishes.

She leaned into my ear and whispered. “Sis, peacocks mean pride and rebirth. Is he hinting

something?”

“Hinting we forgot last night?” I whispered back.

Just then, a dumpling landed neatly in my bowl.

“Sister-in-law.” Elian smiled innocently. “Eat more.”

1: “…..”

“Thank you, brother-in-law…” I forced out the words, feeling like I’d swallowed a fly.

Elian suddenly changed the subject. “I heard you’re excellent at taming horses, sister-in-law?

Especially the fierce ones even the royal stables won’t take?”

Before I could answer, Father-our thick-headed duke-jumped in.

“Oh, my daughter never liked needlework! She’s always loved riding horses like a man!”

Father spoke proudly, completely unaware he was digging her a grave.

Elian looked at me meaningfully, his gaze like a hook. He slowly set down his silver knife.

“I see. I got to experience that skill firsthand last night.”

My silver fork nearly slipped from my hand.

On the other side, Rowan picked up a tender vegetable leaf and placed it directly onto Diana’s

plate.

Diana froze solid.

“I heard you’ve caught a chill, sister-in-law.” Rowan’s voice was clear and steady.

“You should eat lighter things, not too much meat.”

Diana stared at the green vegetable in her bowl. “Thank you… brother-in-law…”

When she said “brother-in-law,” Rowan’s hand trembled as he lifted his tea.

Father went on proudly. “My youngest daughter is a wonderful food connoisseur!”

Rowan lowered his eyes, hiding his smile, the corner of his mouth lifting slightly, his tone

calm.

“Sister-in-law certainly… knows how to eat.”

Diana’s face looked like it was on fire.

I silently poured her a fruit drink.

She drained it in one gulp and whispered to me.

“Sis, I want to go home.”

“Me too.”

“But Father’s still enjoying himself.”

We exchanged a look and silently set down our utensils.

“Father, I’ll step outside for a moment.” I stood up.

Father frowned slightly and warned casually. “Be quick. Don’t cause trouble.”

As soon as we turned the corridor, before we could catch our breath, a figure stepped out

suddenly.

It was Elian.
