“Chloe, the boss is treating us to dinner tonight. You coming?”

Near the end of the workday, my coworker Emma walked over and patted my shoulder.

I shook my head.

She let out a belated “Oh,” and said with a grin:

“I forgot, you’ve got a virtuous male maid at home. He must have dinner ready by now.”

Milo cooking for me?

I’d consider him obedient if he didn’t tear my house down.

I smiled bitterly. Just as I was about to explain, Emma looked full of motivation again:

“That’s so nice!

Now I’m even more motivated to make money. Someday, I’m going to buy a pretty man to serve me too.”

I couldn’t really say anything to that, so I just reminded her:

“When you do buy one, make sure to choose a legit shop that allows returns. Never buy from the black market.”

“Got it, noted!”

I used to always be the first one to dash out the office doors.

But today, nearly half an hour after getting off work, I was still dawdling at my desk, organizing my things.

I kept checking my phone every now and then, opening the home security camera to take a look.

Sure enough, Milo was gone again.

Feeling frustrated and distracted, I simply decided not to rush back.

I walked down the street, turned into an alley, and took a few turns.

Before I knew it, I had somehow ended up at the black market again.
