Lachlan didn’t wait long before his phone rang.

But before he could even greet the caller, the news from the other end froze him in place.

The pack police department? Why was his Luna there?

Was she alright?

“Scrapes? How bad?!”

“I’m on my way!”

Lachlan burst through the doors of the pack police station, winded and breathless.

I sat wrapped in a thick blanket. I looked up at him, fingers gripping a cup of warm water.

[“Why is she so weak…”]

[“Where is that bastard? Looks like I didn’t beat him hard enough last time. He’d better pray he never runs into

me again!”]

He strode over, stopping right in front of me.

I noticed a red ring around his eyes.

His eyes were full of suppressed anguish, but the words leaving his mouth were the exact opposite: “You

always mess things up.”

I didn’t say a word.

“Tamsin heard about this. She was so worried about you, she’s been crying at home for hours.”

My hands balled into tight fists.

“Fine, I was wrong this time. I admit it.”

“From now on, stop causing trouble for others, and stop being so hard on yourself.”

He reached out, gently placing his hand over mine.

“Once this is sorted out, I’m taking you home.”

“No need.”

I shoved his hand away.

“When did you and I ever have a home?”

The door clicked open.

A tall, long-legged man oozing powerful werewolf aura walked in, setting a steaming mug of hot cider on the

table before me.

“Warm up first. Once the paperwork is done, my sister and I will take you to the clinic for a full checkup.”

A little girl with twin pigtails popped her head out from behind him.

“Hmm? Rowan, who is this guy?”

Lachlan’s expression turned sharp and deadly, his Alpha aura flaring out violently.

“Rowan, who are they?!”

I pulled the blanket tight against my chest.

“The little girl is Sloan. When I was grabbed, she screamed to distract that creep.”

“As for Gideon, I owe him my life. And my wolf already told me-he is my second mate.”

Lachlan gasped violently.
