His Tardiness, Her New Marriage Chapter 13

His Tardiness, Her New Marriage Chapter 13

After I said that, I didn’t look at his instantly pale face again.

I placed my hand firmly in the crook of Nathaniel’s waiting arm.

“Let’s continue,” I said to Nathaniel.

Nathaniel gave me a deep look.

He nodded toward the officiant.

The next moment, the solemn and beautiful wedding march filled the hall once more.

It was grander than before, drowning out all other noise.

Nathaniel led me, his steps steady, as we walked down the aisle toward the altar.

The guests on both sides spontaneously applauded.

The polite smiles on the faces of the Langford family were long gone.

My parents, my brother, and that condescending adopted daughter.

They had never imagined that the man I was marrying today wasn’t from the Harrington family they had worked so hard to cling to.

It was the Ashford family, a family that was leagues above them, a family that wouldn’t even deign to give them a second glance.

As for how I managed to get Nathaniel to put up three hundred million dollars…

I had my own skills for that.

It had nothing to do with their schemes.

And it had even less to do with the Langford family.

The guests who usually associated with the Langfords, the ones who were all supposed to be at the Harrington wedding next door,

Were now flooding into our ceremony.

Not out of any loyalty to the Langfords, but because they saw someone far more worthy of their attention.

Their applause filled the air.

And behind me, there was a dead silence.

I didn’t need to look back to imagine the expression on Blake’s face.

But that was no longer my concern.

The ceremony reached its most crucial point.

The officiant asked me in a gentle and solemn voice:

“Miss Langford, do you take Mr. Ashford to be your husband, to have and to hold, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, for as long as you both shall live?”

The entire hall fell silent, all eyes focused on me.

“I do.”

My voice was clear, calm, and without a trace of hesitation.
