His Love Value Disappeared When He Hurt Me Deeply Chapter 06

“So what about my boyfriend?”

“I’m pretty, I’ve got a guy who chased me like crazy. There’s no way I don’t have a boyfriend, right?”

Leah looked stunned. She clearly hadn’t expected me to be so shameless.

Her eyes darted around before she looked at me, all moved and sincere.

“Of course you have a boyfriend! It’s my brother, Ryan Brooks!”

“We’re not just best friends. You’re my sister–in–law.”

I vaguely remembered the name Ryan Brooks.

But I had no memory of having a boyfriend at all.

I looked at her suspiciously.

“Really?”

She patted her chest and promised.

“True as true can be. You don’t even know–when those creeps were following you the other day, my brother

showed up and chased them off. His face is still bruised.”

I frowned, trying to remember. It did sound familiar.

Leah kept going, afraid I wouldn’t believe her.

“Back in college you had a huge crush on my brother. You went to all his basketball games.”

“Then you confessed, and you two started dating. You’ve been together for years. You can’t just forget all

those years of love.”

I remembered being obsessed with a really good basketball player in college.

But the idea that I had chased him? I had to admit, I had some nerve.

To convince me, Leah showed me photos on her phone.

There we were–Ryan and me at the basketball court.

I stood shyly beside him, my face full of teenage crush.

I believed her

Then why hasn’t my boyfriend come to see me?”

Was he a bad boyfriend?

If he was, I wouldn’t have put up with it just to be Leah’s sister–in–law.

Leah’s expression turned more serious.

“He has been here! My brother was here looking after you for a whole week!”

“He just got unlucky. I sent him home to get some sleep right before you woke up.”

That evening, I finally met my “boyfriend.”

Ryan walked in, a little flushed, and gently touched my forehead.

“Looks like your fever’s gone. You seem pretty energetic too.”

I stared at Ryan Brooks. Without the haze of my missing memories, he looked incredibly handsome–more

than I remembered.

Six–foot–three with broad shoulders and a perfect face. Total heartthrob material

I couldn’t help thinking–I really lucked out.

“Baby, I missed you so much.”

I clung to his arms and wouldn’t let go, my heart beating faster.

His body stiffened for a second, then he hugged me back. His voice sounded a little choked.

“I missed you too.”

I breathed in the warm, woodsy scent of his cologne.

I didn’t see the look of having found me again in his eyes.

After that, I moved to the regular ward.

For the whole month, only they stayed with me.

During that time, my relationship with Ryan grew fast.

He was there every morning and every night.

He told me jokes and cooked all kinds of food for me.

I felt incredibly lucky to have such a thoughtful boyfriend.

We made plans to go to a cabin by Lake Tahoe after I got out of the hospital and stay there for a while.

Finally, discharge day came The doctor gave me some final instructions.

Leah carried my things while Ryan adjusted my hat

He made sure I was properly bundled up before walking me out.

At the hospital entrance, I saw a couple.

They looked strangely familiar. I couldn’t help staring.

Ryan subtly blocked my view. Leah asked nervously, “What’s wrong?”

Before I could answer, the man spotted me and stormed over.

“Evelyn Quinn! What the hell are you doing?”

“You’ve been gone for a whole month, and tomorrow is our wedding! And here you are messing around with

another guy!”

Hearing my name made my heart skip a beat.

I didn’t understand why. I looked at Leah.

She leaned in and whispered, “That’s the creepy stalker and the mean girl I told you about.”

Goosebumps rose all over my skin. So people this disgusting really existed.

He couldn’t have me, so he badmouthed me and my boyfriend, and now he was flaunting his new girl right in

front of me.

When he saw I wasn’t reacting–and even looked disgusted–he grabbed Sophie and pulled her close.

“Evelyn, you’re doing this to get back at us, right?”

“Fine! We were going to stay friends, but since you’re acting like this, we don’t have to feel guilty anymore.

Just watch how your wedding becomes Sophie’s!”

I didn’t understand what he meant about the wedding. I answered calmly,

“Oh Congrats.

“Now move. Thanks.”

Seeing how serious I looked, Logan’s angry expression turned confused.

He asked hesitantly, “Evelyn, you really don’t care?”

I blinked, glancing at the number above his head–55, not understanding what it meant.

“You’re weird Why would I care? I don’t even know you. This is all in your head.”

He froze, stunned

You’re saying you don’t know me?”

Even Sophie involuntarily frowned

“Evie, stop pretending.”

I looked at them like they were idiots and whispered to Leah,

“You were right. These two are disgusting.”

I turned to leave, but Logan blocked my path, looking panicked.

“Evie, stop playing around.”

“How could you not know me? I’m the one you love most!”

His eyes caught the shaved patch under my hat and the surgery scar.

“You… what happened to you? You were always healthy. Why did you have major surgery? Why didn’t you tell

me?”

I frowned.

“So even if we knew each other before, I probably hated you, right?”

He hadn’t shown up once during my entire hospital stay. What kind of pursuer was that?

I must have disliked him before and wanted nothing to do with him.

That thought made my hesitation disappear. I confidently wrapped my arm around Ryan’s.

“Baby, let’s go home. I want some crawfish.”

Ryan played along and tapped my nose.

“No can do. The doctor said you need to keep your diet light for now.”

Logan tried to follow, but Ryan pressed a firm hand on his shoulder.

He pulled down his mask, his voice calm but full of warning.

“Logan Vance, Evie is my girlfriend. Stay away from her.”

Logan stood there completely stunned, murmuring.

“Ryan Brooks? It’s you. How is this possible…”
