His Last Cup of Warm Milk Came With Divorce Papers Chapter 14

We still took Leo to Disneyland.

As we were heading out, he stared at my neck for a long moment.

Then he asked in his little voice, “Mommy, are there mosquitoes in Daddy’s room?”

I bit my lip.

“Yeah.”

He scrunched up his face, completely serious.

“Daddy is so clumsy. He cannot even swat a mosquito.”

“You should sleep with me instead. I will protect you from them.”

I could not help but laugh.

Sebastian scooped him up.

“I heard that, you little schemer.”

Leo had the time of his life on that trip.

So much so that when school started again, he still was not ready to let go.

He gave me his best pitiful look and made me promise to pick him up in the afternoon.

I agreed.

I spent forever picking out an outfit and finally settled on something simple.

A cream-colored dress, with my hair pinned into a low bun.

Leo came running out with his backpack.

The moment he saw me, his eyes lit up.

“Mommy!”

The other kids gasped.

“Wow, Leo, is your mom a fairy?”

He could not hide his grin.

Still, he tried to play it cool and straightened his little collar.

“My mom is pretty, but you guys are exaggerating.”

Then, with a tiny hint of pride in his voice, he added, “She restores historic art. She is amazing.”

“My dad calls that elegance.”

“She used to be super busy with work. She only started picking me up recently.”

“I told you guys I had a mom, but nobody believed me!”

He ran over and grabbed my hand, holding on tight.

I bent down and kissed him.

When I looked up, Sebastian was standing a short distance away.

Tall and quiet, he watched us through the crowd.

Leo ran to him, and Sebastian ruffled his hair.

Then he walked over to me and reached out his hand.

The floating comments sighed.

[This little family warms my heart.]

[If only it had been like this from the start. Two people who truly love each other wasted all those

years.]

(Liliana has been dense, believing whatever anyone told her.]

[You cannot totally blame her though. We see everything, but she sees nothing. With all those

coincidences and her parents poisoning the well every day, of course she hated him.]

[And the spiked drink? Sebastian could not even trace it. Liliana had no clue. How could she?]

[Blame her parents. They spoiled the fake daughter, neglected the real one, and now that their company is failing, they are throwing Charlotte at Sebastian while trying to sell Liliana off to some old man. Who does that?]

The comments were in chaos.

Right then, my mother called.

“Your sister’s birthday party is tomorrow. Don’t forget to bring Leo.”

Honestly, I was not planning to go.

But I felt like I needed to put an end to all of it.

So I said yes.

Sebastian seemed to read my mind.

He squeezed my hand.

“I am coming with you.”
