His GPS Always Navigated To My Best Friend’s Apartment Chapter 09

Hearing the words new suitor, Ethan’s breathing turned dangerously heavy, a flash of wild, unhinged jealousy

flaring up in the depths of his eyes.

“Who is it? That punk kid Logan?”

He lunged forward violently, his hands snapping out to grab my shoulders.

“Rachel, you can’t do this! We’ve been together for three years! What gives you the right to just stop loving me out of nowhere? What gives you the right to turn around and throw yourself at someone else?”

His voice boiled over with indignant fury, carrying the raw entitlement of a man who believed I was a piece of private property that someone else had dared to touch.

Slap!

I raised my hand and delivered a brutal, stinging backhand across his face.

The sharp crack of the slap echoed through the quiet café. Chloe gasped, locking her hands over her mouth in terror, while patrons at the surrounding tables turned their heads to stare.

Ethan’s head snapped to the side, a bright red handprint instantly bleeding through the stubble on his cheek. He stood entirely frozen in place, staring at me in utter shock and disbelief.

“That slap was to snap you out of your pathetic sense of entitlement.”

I casually rolled my shoulder, shaking out my slightly numbed palm.

“Ethan, what right do you have to interrogate me?”

“Did

you think about me when you took my rent money to treat your foodie buddy to an all-you-can-eat premium steak buffet?”

“Did you think about me when I was burning up with a severe flu, begging you to bring me medicine, while you turned off your phone because you thought I was ruining your late-night diner run with her?”

“I didn’t…” he muttered under his breath, trying to form a defense, but his voice was too weak to convince

even himself.

“Do you honestly think that if you put on a tragic, deeply devoted act right now, I’ll be moved by it?” I looked down at him, entirely detached.

“When I look at you now, all I remember are the endless nights I spent waiting up for you in the dark. All I remember are the humiliations you took for granted. You make me sick.”

Those final words pierced Ethan straight through the chest.

His broad frame swayed violently on his feet. Then, his knees buckled right out from under him, and he dropped heavily to the floor, kneeling directly at my feet.

“Rachel, please…”

“I really, truly know I messed up.

“I’ll cut my own chest open and give you my heart if that’s what it takes, okay? Just give me one more

chance. Just one…”

His trembling hands reached out blindly, trying to grab the hem of my skirt.

I took a deliberate step backward, easily leaving his reach.

“I don’t love you anymore, Ethan. I don’t even have enough energy left to hate you.” My face remained

completely expressionless as I looked at him.

“The tears you’re crying right now are nothing but a delayed performance to satisfy your own ego.”

“Stop coming to find me. Salvage whatever shred of dignity you have left.”

Behind me, Ethan remained on his knees, burying his face in his hands as low, suffocating dry sobs ripped

through his chest. Yet he could no longer stir a single ripple of emotion in my heart.

It had finally beaten into his skull that he had lost me for good.
