His Double Standards, My Final Goodbye Chapter 10

His Double Standards, My Final Goodbye Chapter 10

No response: 12.

The last record was from the day I found Chloe at his penthouse.

Request time: 5:40 p.m.

Status: Awaiting approval.

I stared at it for a few seconds, then tapped Delete Permanently.

Every record disappeared at once.

It didn’t hurt as much as I’d expected.

It felt like deleting an itinerary for a trip that had been canceled long ago.

Mom called to me from the balcony.

“Astrid, come look! Full figured out how to open the cabinet.”

I put my phone away and walked over.

Full was pawing at a cabinet door. Inside were treats stocked for the model unit.

I crouched beside him and tore open the package.

A gentle voice came from the doorway. “The door was open. Is it okay if I come in?”

Adrian stood in the sunlit entryway holding hot coffee and a chestnut cake. He didn’t take another step. He simply waited for me to nod.

I looked at him, then at Mom laughing with the cat beside me, and the part of me that had felt wind-scoured and barren for so long finally warmed.

I’d spent three years begging for permission to enter a territory where every step had to be measured.

I didn’t have to anymore.

I’d built a world of my own, and its doors would always be open to the people who loved and respected me.

No permission required. No access restrictions.
