Her New Life, His Eternal Pain Chapter 11

Her New Life, His Eternal Pain Chapter 11 Wait For Me

“Really?” Lily’s face lit up like someone had flipped a switch. She hugged her mother tight, buried her face in Fiona’s chest, and fell asleep within seconds, her small body going limp and warm.

Six years ago, Samuel and his mentor had finally cracked the formula of the drug inside Fiona.

He’d been over the moon. He’d sprinted to her apartment to tell her, his legs burning, his lungs on fire

But when he got there, she was standing on the roof.

And then she jumped.

His heart ripped right out of his chest. He remembered screaming-something wordless and raw-as he watched her fall.

By some miracle, she caught the awning on the floor below. Didn’t fall all the way. But she was hanging there, limp, blood dripping from her fingertips.

Samuel went feral. No safety gear. No rope. Just his bare hands and a prayer. He climbed up the rusted drainpipe, his palms getting sliced open, and dragged her back from death.

He took her to the best medical facility in Denmark-a place he could barely afford.

At first, Fiona didn’t want to live. Not even a little. She’d stare at the ceiling for hours, not blinking, not speaking.

Then she found out how much her treatment was costing Samuel. She tried to kill herself again. And again.

Until Samuel came home with a newborn.

The baby belonged to his mentor-a woman who’d spent years being beaten by her husband. One day, she’d fought back. Killed him. Got life in prison.

But before she went away, she’d used her connections to get Fiona into that elite facility. She’d pitied Fiona’s story.

Fiona held that tiny baby-so small, so fragile, with wrinkled skin and a tuft of dark hair-and cried.

Samuel asked her, “Will you help me raise her?”

Fiona didn’t hesitate. “Yes.”

She never tried to die again.

She wanted to live. Wanted to watch that little girl grow up.

Now, six years later, they’d finally reached the point where Fiona could get a blood perfusion treatment that might actually save her.

MOM

The fake death-Samuel had orchestrated the whole thing. Just to get her away from Liam.

But the doctors in Denmark could only slow the organ failure. They couldn’t stop it.

So Samuel brought her home. Back to the country where Liam lived.

He’d thought he’d been careful. But on their first day out, with Lily, they’d run right into him

That man is a curse, Samuel thought, his knuckles white on the steering wheel. He just won’t disappear.

Terrified, he’d shoved Fiona into the car and made small talk with Liam like nothing was wrong, his smile feeling like it was painted on.

It wasn’t until they were miles away that Samuel finally exhaled, his shoulders dropping.

And then Fiona laughed at him from the backseat.

“Samuel, why are you so scared of him?”

His hands were sweating on the steering wheel. He racked his brain for an answer, opened his mouth. closed it, and finally choked out, “I’m not.”

Fiona smoothed Lily’s hair, her voice casual, light. “I don’t love him anymore.”

Pause.

“Samuel… I want to live. I want to raise Lily.” Another pause. Longer this time. “With you.”

The last two words were so soft he almost missed them. But his heart caught them like a drowning man grabs a rope.

For six years, Samuel had stayed by her side. Never left. Never pushed. Dragged her back from death’s door inch by inch.

Fiona wasn’t blind. She knew how he felt.

But he’d never said a word.

Six years of living together, eating together, sleeping in the same house-and he’d never once crossed the line.

Only sometimes, when she caught him off guard, she’d see it in his eyes. That raw, burning love he tried so hard to hide. The way his gaze would linger on her face when he thought she wasn’t looking. The way his hand would hover near hers, then pull back.

He’d protected her in the quietest, clumsiest way.

And somewhere along the way, she’d fallen for him too.

But she didn’t dare be with him until she was truly better. She couldn’t give him hope, only to leave him drowning if she died.

…

Samuel, though-he heard everything. Even that whisper.

Fiona’s meaning…

He froze for a second. The world stopped.

Then his face split into the biggest grin she’d ever seen-eyes crinkling, checks bunching. His heart pounded so hard she could almost hear it.

If they hadn’t been in the car, he would’ve jumped three feet in the air.

He kept glancing at the rearview mirror, his voice shaking with barely contained joy. “I-I’ve always-

“Samuel.” She cut him off softly, her eyes warm. “Wait for me.”

Fiona watched him nod like an excited puppy, his head bobbing up and down, and she made a silent vow.

I’m going to survive. No matter what.
