I sued Julian for bigamy and fraud. 

Although the fake certificate allowed him to exploit a legal loophole, the fact that he and Cassie lived together as husband and wife for a long period and had a child was solid evidence of bigamy. 

On the afternoon the court summons was delivered, I received a call from an unknown number. 

On the other end were Julian’s panicked screams and Cassie’s piercing cries. 

“Sera Vance! Are you satisfied now? Do you have to drive us to our deaths before you’re happy?” 

Cassie roared over the phone. “My reputation is ruined! How is my son supposed to hold his head up? You wicked woman!” 

“Wicked?” I said coldly into the phone. 

“Cassie, when you were posting to show off your stolen happiness, and when you were sending anonymous letters to my company, did you think about my reputation? Did you think about whether I would live or die?” 

“I’ll kill you! I’m going to kill you!” 

The sound of something heavy hitting the floor came through the phone, followed by Julian’s roar: 

“Cassie! Have you had enough? This is all because of you! If you hadn’t schemed against me back then, I would never have lost Sera!” 

“You’re blaming me? Julian Thorne, you’re blaming me now? 

When you were holding me in bed back then, why weren’t you 

blaming me?” 

This was followed by a violent argument and the sound of a 

physical struggle. 

“Get your hands off me! Don’t touch me!” 

“Julian, you actually dared to push me–AH!” 

A piercing scream, accompanied by a heavy thud, ended the chaos on the other end of the line. 

Then, silence like death. 

I gripped my phone, my palms covered in cold sweat. 

An hour later, I received a call from the police. 

During the struggle, Julian had accidentally pushed Cassie down the stairs. 

Her head had struck the sharp edge of the marble steps, causing a massive brain hemorrhage. 

By the time she reached the hospital, she had stopped 

breathing. 

And Julian was arrested on the spot on suspicion of felony assault resulting in death. 

I saw Julian again in the visitation room of the detention 

center. 

In less than a month, he had become emaciated. His hair had turned gray in patches, and his eyes were hollow and lifeless, 

stripped of his former CEO persona. 

Seeing me, a final spark of light flickered in his eyes. His 

skeletal hands gripped the iron bars tightly. 

“Sera… Sera, save me… I didn’t mean it, I really didn’t… she 

started it, I just gave her a push…” 

I sat outside the window, watching him quietly. 

This man I had loved for over a decade, whose life I had saved 

twice. 

“Julian,” I spoke calmly, my voice echoing in the empty room. “Did you know? Back at the theme park, if you had told me the truth immediately, if you had shown even a shred of genuine 

remorse… maybe I would have just chosen a divorce and let you live your life.” 

“But what did I see? I saw you taking it for granted, enjoying 

two families, and I saw you willing to keep lying to me just to 

save yourself.” 

Julian closed his eyes in pain, tears sliding down his cheeks. 

“Sera… I was wrong… I really know I was wrong… give me one more chance, okay? I’m begging you, for the sake of us 

growing up together…” 

I laughed. 

I laughed until I almost cried. 

“Julian, do you remember the question you asked me all those 

years ago?” 

I slowly leaned closer to the bars, staring into his eyes, 

enunciating every word: 

“You asked me if I was going to throw you away, too.” 

Julian began to tremble violently. 

“I can answer you now.” 

I stopped smiling, my eyes turning bone–chillingly cold. 

“Yes, Julian. I am throwing you away.” 

“Not only am I throwing you away, but I want you to spend the rest of your life in this dark cell repenting. Repenting for your betrayal of me, and for everything you destroyed with your own hands.” 

“NO! Sera! You can’t do this to me! SERA!” 

Julian screamed hysterically, pounding on the bulletproof glass as he was forced to the ground by the guards behind him. 

I stood up, straightened the wrinkles in my clothes, and walked out of that heavy door without looking back. 

The sunlight outside was a bit blinding. 

I looked up at the sky. The sky was blue, and the clouds were 

thin. 

Cassie was dead; Julian was ruined. 

That so–called “happy family of three” was ultimately nothing 

but a dream soaked in blood and lies. 

As for the child… Julian’s parents had taken him in. 

He still had a long life ahead of him. I hoped he would learn how to be an honest person, despite his terrible parents. 

And I had already been accepted for graduate studies in the UK. 

This land held too much pain and betrayal; it was time for me to see different scenery. 

Before boarding, I opened Reddit one last time. 

The trending post had been deleted, but I had received 

countless private messages. 

Some were comforting me, some were cursing the man, and some were asking how I was doing. 

I didn’t reply to anyone. 

I simply went to that question–Who is the person you’ve wronged the most?-and wrote one final sentence: 

The person I’ve wronged the most is the Sera Vance who once lost herself just to love someone. Luckily, I’ve found her again. 

I put away my phone, grabbed my suitcase, and walked toward the security gate. 

Ahead of me was the scent of freedom.
