He Wouldn’t Marry a ‘Widow’ So I Left Him and His Brother Both Chapter 11

As they forced us onto the wagon, Rory cried and struggled.

She sank her teeth into Callum’s hand.

He only frowned before giving her a gentle smile.

“If it makes you feel better, bite me all you want.”

“What’s so great about this frozen place where all it does is snow? When spring comes and the south warms up, I’ll take you fishing again.”

“Didn’t you always love going out with me?”

Rory let go of his hand and glared at him fiercely.

“I don’t want to! You’re both liars!”

“Let Mama go! Let go of my mama! We want to go back! I want to find Soren!”

Callum froze, and his expression darkened.

“Who’s Soren?”

Rory refused to answer.

She buried herself in my arms, sobbing so hard that her entire body shook.

My hands and feet were bound, and I looked coldly up at Callum.

He pressed his lips together.

Before he could speak, Ronan climbed into the wagon.

He shoved Callum aside and gripped my hand.

“Winter, please don’t blame me.”

“Once we’re back with the clan, you can hit me or yell at me all you want. Give me three months… No, one

month.

“If you still feel uncomfortable there or still hate me after that, I’ll bring you back. All right? Just give me one chance to make this up to you. Please?”

I turned my face away and scoffed.

“Ronan, I will never trust a liar again.”

“And why are you taking me back with both of you? Are you planning to keep taking turns living with me?”

Ronan froze.

He glanced back at Callum, who was already looking at him.

Their eyes met.

Ronan was the first to turn back to me, his voice hard.

“Never. Winter, from this moment on, he and I are done. I want nothing more to do with him.”

“If I hadn’t been stupid enough to bring him into this, he never would’ve had a chance to have you. You were never supposed to be his.”

Callum’s expression changed instantly.

“What did you just say?”

Ronan did not turn around. He only squeezed my hand gently and said evenly, “I said those three years give you no claim on her. From now on, I’ll be the only one taking care of Winter.”

“No claim?” Callum demanded. “Say that again. You were the one who came to me in the first place!”

“That was before. Things are different now.”

“How are they different?”

Callum suddenly turned toward me, his eyes red at the corners.

“Winter, I’m not like him. My brother was too spineless to take you as his bonded mate even after three years. If you go back to him, who knows whether he’ll abandon you the next time he gets bored?”

“I won’t. I’ve loved you all along.”

“If he hadn’t gone after you behind my back, and if my assignment hadn’t kept me away until it was too late, he never would have had a chance with you.”

“I wouldn’t have had to pretend to be him just to get close to you…”

“What do you mean?!”

Ronan spun around and grabbed Callum by the collar.

The two of them slammed into the wooden side of the wagon with a dull thud.

-…

At that moment, the wagon lurched violently.

The wind lifted the curtain, revealing the enormous figure outside.

A massive snow leopard with pure white fur stood in the middle of the road.

All four paws were sunk deep into the snow, and his deep–blue eyes were locked on the wagon.

Rory lifted her head from my chest, and her eyes instantly lit up.

“Soren!”

Both tiger shifters turned toward him warily.

My heart clenched when I saw the blood still seeping from the wound on the snow leopard’s front paw.

The wagon had been traveling for a long time.

Soren had run all the way from the Far North to catch us.
