He Wouldn’t Let Me Touch His Door, But She Wore His Shirt Chapter 06

I had been back at my parents’ place for a week when Valerie called, her voice heavy and complex.

“Jo, I have to tell you something. Alyssa got caught.”

Apparently, after Julian kicked her out, Alyssa had returned to the office emotionally unstable, causing her to make frequent mistakes at work.

When Valerie went to audit the client accounts Alyssa was managing, she realized the metrics were completely fabricated.

The point-of-contact details for three major corporate accounts had been altered.

A deeper investigation revealed that Alyssa had been using Valerie’s agency resources to siphon off

private contracts.

She had exported sensitive client data, passing it off to small boutique studios outside the company

in exchange for a kickback under the table.

When Valerie searched her work laptop, she discovered that the agency’s entire pricing matrix,

client lists, and internal strategy templates had been copied onto an external drive.

“Jo, you warned me before that she wasn’t simple, but I didn’t take it seriously. I was completely

blind,” Valerie said, her voice laced with rage and self-reproach.

I didn’t say I told you so.

“How are you handling it?” I asked.

“She’s fired, obviously. But I’m confronting her face-to-face first.”

On the day of the confrontation, Alyssa’s immediate reaction wasn’t to apologize.

Instead, she tried to call Julian right in front of Valerie.

But Julian had already blocked her number.

The call wouldn’t go through.

The pathetic, innocent mask cracked on Alyssa’s face for a split second before she forced out her usual helpless routine.

“Valerie, I didn’t have a choice. Living in this city alone is so expensive, the rent is just brutal.”

Valerie slapped the mountain of evidence onto the desk.

“Data export logs, private contract agreements, client complaints. What else do you have to say for yourself?”

Alyssa was completely speechless.

That afternoon, she uploaded a new post to Instagram.

[Made the wrong choices, and now everyone has abandoned me. Some people look so glamorous on the outside, but behind closed doors, they do everything they can to crush the vulnerable. I was just trying to survive,] the text read, accompanied by a photo of her tear-stained eyes.

The caption was a thinly veiled attempt to claim she was being corporate bullied.

A few people left sympathetic comments.

But others began digging up her older posts.

[Hey, what happened to the guy with the massive bathtub?]

[So wait, were you living at someone else’s boyfriend’s place?]

Alyssa frantically wiped out every single historical post related to Julian’s apartment.

But the internet always keeps receipts.

People had already saved screenshots.

The incriminating evidence began spreading rapidly through local gossip accounts, tagged with labels like #HomewreckerExposed and #VictimPlayingBackfires.

Valerie officially terminated Alyssa’s contract, withholding her final paycheck to cover the breach of contract damages caused by her side-dealing.

Furthermore, the clients she had covertly redirected realized Alyssa lacked actual competence; her

strategies were riddled with errors, and her pricing was artificially inflated.

One by one, those accounts migrated straight back to Valerie’s agency.

A week later, Alyssa managed to call me from a different number.

“Joanna, I messed up,” she sobbed hysterically. “Can you please tell Valerie to drop the penalties? I don’t have that kind of money to pay her back…”

I leaned back against the lounge chair on the patio, listening to her ragged breathing.

I used to think her crying routine was convincingly pitiable.

Now, it just felt like bad acting.

“From the very beginning, you’ve been calculating to steal things that belong to others,” I said

calmly. “Julian’s apartment, Valerie’s clients. Now that there’s nothing left for you to exploit, you’re not used to it?”

The sobbing on the other end ceased instantly.

After a two-second silence, her voice shifted into a venomous hiss. “Joanna, don’t push me too far.

Julian let me stay there voluntarily. It was never any of your business.”

I hung up the phone.

And blocked her.

This person would never have anything to do with my life again.
