He Was Never Untouchable, Just Untouched By Me Chapter 01

He Was Never Untouchable, Just Untouched By Me Chapter 01

I fell for my best friend Audrey Finch’s brother.

I pulled every move I had on him, every trick, every angle. He remained completely unfazed.

Then the live comments appeared.

[Lmao the side character really thinks the ML is playing hard to get. Girl, he’s just not into you.]

[The ML likes sweet, wholesome girls like the FL. This one is speedrunning every turnoff. The harder she tries, the sadder it gets, and the ML is honestly disgusted.]

[Don’t worry. If she keeps throwing herself at him, she’s about to get rejected by the ML in public. Total humiliation. Then she runs off in a daze, gets hit by a car, and ends up disfigured.]

[She deserves it too. She’s been putting her hands all over the ML nonstop, and this time she literally faked a headache just to get him to touch her.]

I panicked so hard I jerked my head away from Julian Sterling’s abs.

He frowned, his voice low and husky. “What’s wrong?”

“It’s so hard.” The words came out before my brain could catch up.

***

The room went dead silent.

“The belt. I meant the belt.”

I was already making it worse. I tried to explain, bit my tongue mid-sentence, and felt my face catch fire.

“Julian… I mean, Dr. Sterling, my head’s actually fine now.”

The live comments were going feral.

[I can’t with her. She’s doing this on purpose, right? This is literally harassment.]

[The ML is failing me too, though. Why does he look low-key into it?]

[This is all the side character’s fault. She’s such a shameless pick-me. She’s basically corrupted him at this point.]

Julian rarely looked me in the eye.

His gaze kept drifting between my low-cut slip dress and my bare legs, like he couldn’t find anywhere safe to look.

When he finally met my eyes, the look said everything. What are you trying now?

The spot where I’d bitten my tongue still throbbed, and without thinking, I dragged my tongue over my lower lip.

Julian’s assistant chose that moment to chime in, grinning like he’d solved the whole case.

“Miss Brooks, please don’t tell me you’ve moved on from a headache to a tongue injury.”

“A minute ago you needed Dr. Sterling’s abs to fix your head. What’s the treatment plan for the tongue?”

Something flickered behind Julian’s eyes, not quite protest. His voice came out carefully flat.

“I’m swamped today. Come back tonight, if that works.”

Any other day, I wouldn’t have hesitated. I would’ve pouted right there, leaned into him, and let him kiss it better.

But those comments had gotten under my skin. I forced out a laugh that fooled no one.

“I’m meeting Audrey to go shopping. I won’t keep you.”

Audrey was my best friend and Julian’s sister.

Their parents divorced when they were young. She went with their mother and took her surname; he stayed with their father and kept his.

I made it to the door before the question I’d been choking back finally slipped out.

“Julian… does me coming here every day bother you?”

His voice was quiet. “Yes.”

Something behind my ribs gave way.

He couldn’t even bother with a polite lie.

I was through the door before he could see my face crack.

He watched me leave, his expression unreadable.

His assistant gaped.

“Who was that and what did she do with Chloe? Since when does she let you off that easy?”

“That girl has no concept of boundaries. She almost…”

One look at Julian’s face and the assistant shut his mouth.

Julian stared at his phone, where Audrey’s class schedule was pulled up on the screen.

She was in the middle of a lecture.

Meanwhile, the live comments kept piling up, listing every one of my offenses.

[The more I think about it, the madder I get. The ML has been saving himself for YEARS. That purity is meant for the FL, and this unhinged side character has basically had her hands all over him.]

[That’s exactly why she gets what she deserves. Disfigured. Good luck using that pretty face to trap men ever again.]

[But honestly, the ML isn’t exactly a pushover either. He’s ice-cold and absolutely brutal when he turns people down. So why does he let the side character get away with it every single time?]

[Obviously, it’s because of Audrey. She has garbage taste in friends and won’t stop hanging around this girl. He feels guilty about his mother and sister, so he just keeps putting up with it.]
