He Turned Our Wedding Into a Bet So I Married Another Man Chapter 10

“Get some sleep. I’ll pick you up early.”

“Okay.”

I closed my eyes, and for the first time in a long while, I felt a strange, unfamiliar happiness.

Not the reckless fever of a gambler, but the quiet peace of something settled.

The next morning, the street was alive with the sound of car horns and laughter.

Grant was already there, standing in a tailored black suit. When he saw me, his whole face changed, like I was the only thing that mattered.

I walked to him. He placed a hand on my waist, steadying me. “Quinn,” he said, his voice low, “tell me this is

real.”

I looked up at him, tears blurring my vision.

Meanwhile, at the Red Mesa County International Gem Exchange, the venue was already packed by the time Chase and his group arrived.

The so-called “jackpot stones” had already been bid to sky-high prices.

Each cut could make you a millionaire, or wipe you out.

Kyle studied a rough, dusty rock.

“This one’s got promise. Thin crust, green veins, maybe sixty percent chance it pays.”

Lena leaned in, studying the surface. “Price?”

“Six hundred thousand.”

Chase, though, was glued to his phone.

His college friend Megan Cole had been invited to the wedding.

But how could the wedding even happen without him?

“Chase, come look at this.” Mac waved him over. “This one’s better than Kyle’s-tight crust, good water. Look

at that vein-”

“Whatever you guys think.” Chase muttered, eyes still on the screen.

Kyle came over, frowning. “You’re the one who always makes the call. This one’s over eight hundred grand,

our combined money. We need your read on it.”

Chase finally looked up, scanning the room distractedly.

“Let’s go with that one.”

He pointed to a black, ugly rock in the far corner.

Everyone went quiet.

“Chase, seriously? That’s rejects… shouldn’t even be in the main hall.”

“Yeah, the three we picked-everyone agreed they had good odds. Pick one of those.”

They pleaded, anxious.

Chase opened his mouth to answer, but his phone lit up. Megan had sent a video and a voice note.

“Chase, you said the wedding wasn’t real? Grant just showed up. Both families are here; the whole room is packed. I don’t know what’s happening but you need to see this!”

The blood in Chase’s veins turned to ice.

He stood in the middle of the roaring crowd.

Kyle was examining the rock, Mac was haggling with the staff, and Lena was on the phone checking their transfer limits. Everything looked normal, except for Chase.

Chase felt hollowed out, mind blank.

He fought to keep his voice steady, but it cracked.

“Listen… buy the rock on the far right.’

“I have to get back to Ashford City. Now.”

He spun and ran for the exit.

“You’re insane!” Kyle grabbed his arm. “We’re about to cut! What happens to our ten million dollars?!”

Lena chased after him.

“Get off!” Chase shoved her, eyes wild. “Quinn’s really getting married! If I don’t go now, it’s over!”

Everyone froze

No one stopped him again.

Bursting out of the exchange, Chase frantically called airlines.

“No flights? Then charter one. I don’t care what it costs. I need a plane-now-back to Ashford City!”

At a five-star hotel ballroom in Ashford City, the Wedding March swelled. At the end of the aisle, Grant stood

tall in his tux, waiting.

Quinn walked toward him in white, her steps steady and sure.

The officiant began the ceremony.

“Quinn Hart, do you take Grant Sterling to be your lawfully wedded husband, to love, honor, and cherish, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, as long as you both shall live?”

Quinn opened her mouth-

Bang!

The heavy ballroom doors crashed open.

“I object!”
