He Told Me He Slept With Her, on Our Wedding Bed, in My Dress Chapter 09

Callum did not catch me.

He missed me by seconds.

I had just gotten into the car when he came running out of the venue, and he chased after it for what felt like forever

before he finally collapsed from exhaustion and started calling me over and over instead.

I never picked up.

The day before, we had signed the dissolution papers.

I told him we could get remarried after the wedding, make it a matched set, one ending and one beginning on

back-to-back days.

He believed me.

But there had been no joy in fooling him, only a strange, endless emptiness.

When I lay on the table under those sterile LED lights, I heard Dr. Aris’s voice telling me to live.

During treatment, she had noticed how deeply I depended on Callum and had tried, gently, to warn me, but back then I

never listened.

Only later, when I was lying there between life and death, did her words finally sink in.

At the time, what made me choose life was not hope.

It was vengeance.

I wanted to live so the people who had betrayed me could be made to answer for what they had done.

That was the thought I held onto when I forced myself back from the edge.

And the moment I opened my eyes in that hospital bed and saw Callum’s panicked face, I knew exactly how I was going

to do it.

He hated that the light he wanted had first belonged to someone else.

So I let that light fall on him for just a little while, only to remind him that it had never really been his, and then I took

it away completely.

My revenge went smoothly.

Every time I used another ‘memory” to make him do something painful, humiliating, or impossible. I watched him

swallow his pride like a bitter pill.

But it only ever lasted a second.

Then everything inside me went hollow.

It felt like someone had ripped open my chest, taken out my heart, and packed the space with straw

At first, I could not understand why.

Then he asked me if I remembered anything good, and for one terrifying heartbeat, I did.

It was the good.

In that instant, I understood.

He had hurt me because he loved me. And I had wanted to hurt him because, once upon a time, I had loved him too.

We were just two people using the ruins of a relationship to see who could bleed the other dry.

I sat up all night thinking about that.

By dawn, when the first light crept across his sleeping face, there was nothing left in me for him, no love, no hatred, no

desire to keep punishing him.

And once both love and hate were gone, revenge lost its meaning too.

But Blaire was different.

I contacted her in secret and asked if she wanted to make a bet, one that could leave her with Callum for the rest of her

life.

She looked at me warily. “After everything I’ve done to you, why would you ever help me?”

I smiled. “Haven’t I been helping you all along?”

Something flickered in her eyes, and then she smiled back. “After this, Sienna, I won’t be jealous of you anymore.”

She believed me.

She thought I wanted out and was willing to use her to make my escape. \

She still believed I was the same pathetic woman who only knew how to stand there and ask why whenever someone

took something from her.

So I gave her a gift worthy of that mistake.

The moment I walked out of the ballroom, I sent the presentation I had prepared, the one detailing the two times she

had wrecked her own sister’s marriage, to the extended family group chat and the company-wide email list

My parents started calling me almost immediately.

Thinking of all the years they had enabled her, all the times they had cut me off, silenced me or hung up on me to

protect Blaire. I returned the favor. I blocked them both.

And I had not forgotten Gavin either.

I sent proof of his infidelity to his CEO’s wife.

Her mother had killed herself after her husband cheated, and she had spent her whole life despising men who betrayed

their wives, so I knew exactly how that would land.

As for Callum, I left him with the one thing he feared most:

Public humiliation. By tomorrow, he wouldn’t just be a jilted groom; he’d be a social pariah in every boardroom in the

city.

One by one, I struck back at everyone who had failed me.

And once I did, the heaviness inside me finally lifted.

By the time the cab pulled up to the airport, my luggage had already been sent ahead. I was at the gate when I heard my

name.

He sounded breathless, ragged, like he had been running for miles.

“Sienna,” he called out. “I’ll take all of it. Every bit of your revenge. Just… please don’t go.”

In front of everyone, he dropped to his knees again and looked at me like begging was all he had left.

I almost laughed at how cheap his pride had become.

But I did not say yes. I did not say anything at all. I only turned around and kept walking.

Some loves stayed unfinished and turned into ghosts that haunted a lifetime.

But as long as I chose myself, as long as I kept moving forward, my life would never belong to that ghost again.
